The UFC is set to introduce it's first women's division, expected to be 135-lbs., in the coming months, according to Sports Illustrated.

UFC President Dana White has been adamant in recent years that women would be allowed to compete in the UFC once there was enough depth of talent to build a full division and have a world champion. Today White told SI that the UFC will add women to it's ranks but put no timetable on when the introduction will be made.

It is assumed that the first women's fight in the UFC will be between incumbent Strikeforce 135-lbs. champion Ronda Rousey and former 145-lbs. champion Cristiane Santos. Both fighters are under contract with Strikeforce, another MMA promotion owned by UFC parent company Zuffa, that currently has exclusive contracts with their fighters but could be without a broadcast partner after Showtime canceled it's last two televised events.

The decision could also lure back former EliteXC women's champion and current movie star Gina Carano, regarded as the biggest female draw in the sport. Carano is currently involved in the production of the next Fast & Furious sequel.

Rousey still has three fights left on her sf contract. Unless dfw knows something we don't, could still be over a year before the women get into the ufc.

Well that shouldn't be an issue if the UFC disbands SF, right?

Ronda Rousey is going to be named UFC champion in the coming days. Getting the Jose Aldo treatment I guess.
