How can the judges be so bad?

    Great question.

Believe it or not the athletic commissioner for Nevada, Keith Kizer, has basically rejected all forms of review and renovation of the judging criteria, the criteria for being a judge, and the equipment used for judging.

Judging in MMA is generally accurate but sometimes it is atrocious. Yet there is no accountability.

    No accountability

    Imbecilic referees, still getting work.
    Incompetent judges, still getting work.
    Indefensible decisions, never getting overturned.
    Archaic rules, never getting changed.

Fuck the CSAC and NSAC and the rest of the athletic commissions, you are stunting the growth of MMA. Get your shit together already. Corruption and incompetence has almost buried boxing more than a few times. Don't do it to MMA too.

You can email Keith Kizer here: kkizer@boxing.nv.gov

Didn't watch the Garcia/Phan fight but it sounds like another terrible decision in Garcia's favour, sucks for Nam Phan. I am really surprised (or maybe not) that Cody got another guillotine win under his belt, shit is ridiculous.

I don't get how two judges can score it 29-28 for Phan then the 3rd judge scores it 30-27 for Garcia. I mean really? I watched the fight with my mom and she has seen maybe 2 other fights and I asked her opinion on who won and she said Phan easily.

"Fight of the Night" has gone to, you guessed it, Leonard Garcia vs. Nam Phan. Garcia has this shit down to a science.

    Mostly pretty boring fights.

I like Nam Pham at 155. Seems like a much better fit. He got hosed in the decision, but it's not like the Nevada athletic commission gets to pick Nam's next opponent. Dana White clearly had to be impressed, and is going to get him better competition. So the fight sucked for his record, but was great for his career (which is what really matters).

Johnson/Brookins was a pretty entertaining fight. I'm a huge Brookins fan, but I thought he was toast in the first round. I was shocked that Johnson didn't do more to keep it standing up, where he was clearly superior.

How can anyone not like Cody McKenzie? Is there another fighter in UFC history who has done so much with one move? I wish it'd gone to a second and third round, though. I'd really like to see if he's worked at all on his cardio, which was his biggest problem on the show.

I dunno, with the way Dana has been cutting people lately, there aren't any guarantees, even an exciting fight won't help you if you lose.

Phan is a veteran... I don't know if he has any room left for improvement.

Phan vs. Hominick would be awesome. Two super technical strikers with good grappling.

McKenzie now has ten--TEN--straight fights won by guillotine and is still unbeaten in professional bouts.
