OT The ultimate "my child can do no wrong" parent

That was an intense story. I'm sorry you got stabbed, but I enjoyed reading it.

 

When I worked on Sahara in Vegas years ago I saw a woman cashier chasing a Mexican guy through traffic. He had a case of bud light in cans.

I'd give that shit away. Definitely wouldn't chase a guy through cars going 45 mph over it.

Another story from a guy I work with. He went to a friend's apartment to get a haircut. He was looking out the window at her patio, first floor. A Mexican guy strolled up and grabbed a bicycle and took off.

Ryan and his friend ran out and hopped in the truck to go looking for the guy. Ryan is riding shotgun and he sees a guy up ahead. That's HIM and according to Ryan he jumped out of the truck while it is still rolling and tackled the guy on the bike.

Dude doesn't speak English but they fight over the bike and Ryan and his buddy take it and head back to the apartment.

They walk the bike up to her door and she says "that's not the bike"

Her daughter speaks Spanish and they head back out and find the guy they tackled and give him the bike back. The daughter explains what happened and the poor guy just takes his bike and rides off.

Even if fake I laughed when he told me.

 

I had a similar experience...

My dad insisted on giving me his 2007 Buick Lacrosse with all of the extras in it.

The next month, here I was scrubbing the floor of our dining room in the house we are renting in Seattle in the process of moving into a home we bought. The house we were living in was built right into a hill with a steep grade on it. As I was putting the finishing touches on our move out of the rental house, mopping the dining room floor, I heard a loud crashing noise that was coming from my left.As I looked out the window, I saw my Dad’s Buick parked on the hill and just downhill from the Buick was a boy that couldn’t be more than 12 years old picking up his large banana board style skateboard. I saw an adult male who I could only assume was this boy’s father, emerge from the alley just uphill from our home.The boy, with his skateboard cradled in his arms, ran uphill to his father and the man and boy continued on their way.

I ran outside and looked at my dad’s Buick. And, there, right next to the front license plate was this skinny rectangular dent.The depth of the rectangular dent was curved, just like you would expect to see from the front of a skateboard. The dent really wasn’t that big of a deal but, I was pissed that this kid's dad who had seen his son crash into someone else's car and fled the scene.

I told my wife , “Get in the car.” We both got in the car and I told her what had happened. Here we were in the Buick hunting for this father and son.I spotted them. They were on the sidewalk about three blocks away. I pulled up along side them and lowered the window on the passenger side.I called out to them “Hey!”The father asked, “what?”I yelled at him “Your kid hit my car!”The young boy just sheepishly looked down at the ground, holding his skateboard, as his father repeatedly denied the event ever occurred and claimed that they were never even on my street.As the father continued to deny what I knew to be true, I started pondering what I expected to happen.What was I going to do?Call the police? I decided that there was nothing further I could do. I yelled “You are doing a horrible job of teaching your son to be honest.” I sped off in the Buick and in my rear view mirror I could see the adult male throw his hands out in the air, with his palms up, as if to say “what was that all about?”

A few weeks later, my wife and I went to my parent’s house for a July 4th barbeque. We took the Buick down and I told my father about the skateboard event. As I began to tell the story to my dad, my dad, interrupted me and said, “Oh, you mean that dent right there? – I did that a few months ago!”

That was the moment I became an old man, driving a Buick, yelling at a skateboarder to get off my lawn.

 

I have one, a little higher up that looks like that scare, but a little darker. Not a knife though, a pencil a girl stuck me with. Never did understand it.
