Speed is a serious issue team-wide in transition. The second half turned around as Portland hit more shots, committed fewer turnovers, and limited Utah's break opportunities but for a while there it looked ugly. Portland won't score many fast break points this season. They can't afford to let the other team run out.

If the Blazers don't offensive rebound like maniacs you're going to see a similar disparity in points in the paint. That's a toxic combination.

 

A little misrepresentation because our best transition defender was not playing. Nic can make a huge difference.

 

I still don't see us being a good transition defensive team. I'm not worried though because transition defense isn't as important than perimeter D; IMO. As long as we can take away the 15-22 ft shot effectively; we will win way more games than we lose.

The keys to our success hinge on Aldridge playing more in the post, Lopez's ability to protect the paint and Lillard's defense. If all three of those are above average; we are in really good shape!
