Holmgren, Timme lead No. 1 Gonzaga over San Francisco 78-62

On a night when shots weren't dropping for Drew Timme, freshman center Chet Holmgren stepped up to lift top-ranked Gonzaga.

Holmgren scored 22 points, grabbed nine rebounds and blocked four shots in the Bulldogs' 78-62 victory over San Francisco on Thursday night. Timme finished with 23 points, although many came later in the second half.

No. 7 Arizona grinds out 76-66 win over No. 3 UCLA

Arizona's offense, after flowing so well in the first half, hit a Bruins wall in the second. Good looks were hard to come by, every pass contested, the stretch without a field exceeding five minutes.

In stepped Kerr Kriisa. The Estonian guard who missed all 12 of his shots the first go-round against UCLA, calmly sank a 3-pointer with two minutes left, allowing the Wildcats space enough to pull out a hard-fought win.

Kriisa scored 16 points and hit that big 3-pointer, Dalen Terry flirted with a triple-double and No. 7 Arizona grinded out a 76-66 win over No. 3 UCLA on Thursday night.

Timme leads No. 2 Gonzaga over No. 22 Saint Mary's 74-58

Second-ranked Gonzaga has been blowing out West Coast Conference opponents by an average of more than 30 points, but that wasn't going to be the case against No. 22 Saint Mary's.

Drew Timme scored 25 points and grabbed eight rebounds to help Gonzaga beat Saint Mary's 74-58 on Saturday night and win its 14th straight.

No. 1 Gonzaga falls at Saint Mary's on tough day for Top 10

Saint Mary's finally has its first perfect record at home -- and a memorable win over top-ranked Gonzaga to go with it.

Tommy Kuhse had 14 points and six rebounds for No. 23 Saint Mary's, which beat No. 1 Gonzaga 67-57 on Saturday night to prevent the Bulldogs from completing another undefeated run in the West Coast Conference.

No. 17 Saint Mary's holds off Santa Clara 75-72 in WCC

Saint Mary's watched its advantage dwindle to one and Santa Clara's leading scorer driving to the basket in the closing seconds.

Logan Johnson stepped in, blocked Jalen Williams' shot and made two free throws after being fouled.

One big defensive play, two key free throws and the Gaels are headed back to the West Coast Conference tournament title game.

Johnson hit two free throws with 3.6 seconds left after blocking a shot, Tommy Kuhse scored 27 points and No. 17 Saint Mary's held off a late rally to beat Santa Clara 75-72 in the WCC tournament semifinals Monday night.

No. 1 Gonzaga outlasts No. 17 Saint Mary's, wins WCC tourney

Chet Holmgren spent most of his night frustrated as he got banged around and shots clanged away. Drew Timme, except for a spurt early in the second half, found little room to pull off his variety of drop steps and up-and-unders.

Gonzaga still found a way to pick apart one of the nation's toughest defenses and win another West Coast Conference title.

These Zags are deep, dangerous and may be poised for another extended March run.

Andrew Nembhard scored 19 points, Rasir Bolton added 18 and top-ranked Gonzaga outlasted No. 17 Saint Mary's 82-69 Tuesday night to win its eighth WCC tournament title in nine years.

No. 1 Gonzaga comes alive late to race past Georgia St 93-72

Gonzaga coach Mark Few has seen plenty of No. 16 seeds in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. When he watched video of Georgia State, the longtime Bulldogs' coach didn't see a team that fit that profile.

Few turned to be correct. Gonzaga spent 30 minutes struggling to create any separation against the 16th-seeded Panthers before pulling away late for a 93-72 win on Thursday.

Top-seeded Gonzaga rallies in 2nd half to beat Memphis 82-78

Drew Timme gathered his Gonzaga teammates at midcourt, pointed at the scoreboard showing a 10-point halftime deficit for the top overall seed and expressed a few choice words.

Timme's goal was to spark his teammates with words. He did it with his play on the court, too.

Or as Memphis coach Penny Hardaway said, "the Drew Timme effect came into play."

Timme scored 21 of his 25 points in the second half, and Gonzaga rallied from a 10-point halftime deficit to beat No. 9 seed Memphis 82-78 on Saturday night in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

BYU is scheduled to move from the WCC to the Big 12 in 2023-24, though as mentioned, it's not outside the realm of possibility that the Cougars could relocate for everything other than football (which is effectively bound by existing schedule commitments to remain an independent in 2022) by 2022-23.

Future look: Gonzaga, Loyola Marymount, Pacific, Pepperdine, Portland, Saint Mary's, San Francisco, Santa Clara, San Diego

Timme's 22 lead No. 2 Zags past Spartans on carrier deck

Drew Timme likened it to the feeling of playing hoops in a park as a kid, only this time it was on the flight deck of one of the world's most powerful warships.

Timme led No. 2 Gonzaga in a spirited comeback from a 12-point deficit, finishing with 22 points and 13 rebounds as the Bulldogs beat Michigan State 64-63 Friday night on the USS Abraham Lincoln at North Island Naval Air Station.
