Players often have incentives in contracts and endorsement deals re: the all star game. Just because it's not the playoffs doesn't mean it doesn't matter, to the players or the fans. and yes, I think winning should matter more than it apparently does. I think it sends the wrong message.

Allstar games do indeed matter!!! Players know it does. and it doesnt matter how many minutes you play or how many points you score. At the end of your career when you retire and look at trying to make the HOF, one of the things looked at is how many all star games did he play in? It indeed does matter, anyone who says it doesnt matter is not looking at the big picture.
