The year Mike Barrett spent away from the game

The story I'll remember best about him is the night Nate got fired and I watched Barrett's video reaction after the game in his hotel ....I think he was with Rice...he was really shook up...he had to shut off the video and cut it short. I had a different reaction when they fired Nate.

 

That's not what a play by play guy does. They're intricately involved in every play. I think not watching games was by design.

 

I don't think it's unusual to have a life change like he did and avoid visiting the culture.....when I played my last pub gig in the 90s I didn't set foot in a pub for a couple of years.

 

I still think he watched at least a couple games just out of curiosity and he is saying he didnt to simply avoid being asked his opinion on Kevin and Lamar.
