    Right now we have two LA teams as title contenders.

    I wonder if the Blazers, Jazz, Pacers and Hornets had the 4 best odds to with the NBA title would the league have the same determination to crown a 2020 champ?

    Maybe they would be saying lets hurry up and cancel the season quickly so they can move on to the 2021 season.

    Bundesliga, one of the four major European soccer leagues, officially resumes their season next week. They started training about a month ago. The other European leagues are probably not far behind. Italian league has resumed training.

    But one front office executive on a Western Conference lottery team said that while the NBA isn’t messaging that their seasons are finished, the thought is that the league won’t have the time or resources to bring all 30 teams to one location and play out the regular season. “We want to get it over with as soon as possible. If we are back to playing games, we’ll use it toward preparing for next season,” said an Eastern Conference assistant coach. “Our players have an itch to get back on the court, but the organization prefers they not return and risk injury when we are already looking ahead to next season.”...

    “The first game when we get back will probably be a playoff game,” said a league source with knowledge of plans for resuming games. It’s a realistic outcome, considering testing isn’t yet widely available in the United States

    I've felt for a long time there's no chance the rest of the regular season happens. Too little benefit for the effort required--enough of the season has been played out that seedings and draft positions can be reasonably given out, like in a lockout/strike partial season.

    Agreed. I think the only question is how many teams? A bunch of fans here are talking about play in games. I think it's more likely we see something such as only 8 teams in the playoffs.

    Except the schedule has been incredibly imbalanced in Memphis' favor. Switch our schedule with Memphis' and we're ahead of them. A strike-shortened season balances its season through 66-games, or whatever. A normal season balances their schedule through 82. This schedule isn't built to end at 66 games.

    Simple Fix: Play-in games.
