After seeing how fucked the Sixers were by Bynum, I have to believe he's going to have to take a short (but big) contract to prove durability. No GM is going to risk his own neck by signing Bynum long-term. You don't get fired for passing on Bynum. You do get fired for overpaying him for too many years.

Does the new CBA allow writing up a contract that is so incentive laden that it's basically paying the guy on a game by game basis?

Sounds too smart and too good to be true. Im sure PA would pay the man if he backed it up with solid play

I believe the shortest contract we can give Bynum is 3 years if we want to retain Bird Rights on him. Unless we could get PHI to sign and trade him to us? I don't think sign and trade deals can be any shorter then 3 years either though...

Maybe make it a 2 year deal with 3rd year team option?

You could do the same deal that we did with Jeffries. 3 years (to make it eligible to be an S&T) with the 2nd and 3rd non-guaranteed is allowed.

I am all for him coming here, we just have to make damn sure he can play and not have a long contract. He's a knucklehead, but i think the team is mature enough to handle one.

I'd be cool with Bynum, as long as he isn't rockin' these types of haircuts:
