Did you even read the whole article before posting this? It's not like I'm just throwing my comments out there... there's actual evidence that they are lying about what happened that night, and they're trying to cover it up.... but hey, good on ya.

You drew that I'm going to kill someone and that I'm mentally ill because I said that they are lying and "fuck the police"? Wow...... nice job.

In point of fact, I have friends who are cops and I've trained with police, but I still think the job as a whole is full of assholes and power hungry control freaks. Some departments are better than others, and I happen to think that Portland has pretty decent cops, but you can't help but draw some conclusions after seeing so many videos or reading so many stories of police abusing their power.

The really disturbing part is the amount of munitions that was expelled in that raid. 70 rounds were fired at the victim (60 actually hitting their target)... Let me explain why that's significant.

Most SWAT/TNT/SRT teams use either an Mp5 or M4 platform for their primary weapon. An mp5 or M4 generally has about 30 rounds in the magazine (unless they're carrying a box mag which I highly doubt).

The article states that the victim was at the end of a long hallway, which means the tactical team was either at the other end of the hallway OR they were coming down the hallway, but regardless there were at most two maybe three guys with their guns on him. That means that they emptied at least two mags into him, and either reloaded or a third shooter also fired rounds. That is such a drastic overshoot in an unsafe environment. Officers are not supposed to shoot if they don't know what's behind the target. They could have killed the little boy or hit a neighbor. This is a case of gross negligence on the part of the tac team and they should be punished.

One possible reason is that once police start shooting it's hard to stop. I'm not trying to be funny, but I was talking to a swat member one time and he was telling me that their weapons are very rapid fire as once they start shooting the idea is to kill before they get killed. If a few officers are shooting, it might have only taken 5 seconds or so to get off 70 rounds.

I skimmed the article. But I was speaking in more broader terms.

And that's a bullshit answer. They aren't trained to just lay on the trigger. They are trained to have controlled bursts.

And what's the excuse for letting the guy bleed to death for an hour before medics could see him? How are you going to defend that one?

You need to settle down a bit, here, nate. Seriously, take it easy and rest a bit.

I made it clear I wasn't defending anything.

I know you have some sort of woody for me on this thread, but enough is enough.

A woody? You called me a mental patient you asshole. You said you wouldn't be surprised if I murdered someone some day. You can't slap someone in the face and expect them to say... that's cool. You overstepped a line and made things personal, which was completely uncalled for, and now you're making it out to be me who is overreacting?

All right, all right, I apologize. In all honesty I didn't know what that meant. I thought it meant something else.

But you did intentionally misread my posts. So let's just agree to be good neighbors, OK?

In all honesty, I wonder what dynamic this would take on if he had shot and killed a couple of cops.

probably some from both sides. cops saying he was a cop killer, libertarians saying he was protecting himself

there was guy in nh who recently got shot in the head because he "was holding his daughter hostage with a gun"

he showed the gun to cops and said to get the fuck out, and that they were not taking his daughter away from him. clearly bad judgement, but he was clearly never going to hurt his daughter, so to shoot him in the head is strange.

So often these days police are too quick to shoot.
