I won't be surprised if we pick up 4-6 timbers from the 2010 season for the 2011 roster. Seattle did that.
Gavin said 10-11 but I'm having a hard time picturing most of these guys in MLS. I'd say these guys could play in MLS: Steve Cronin Ryan Pore Adin Brown Ian Joy Stephen Keel Mandjou Keita Alex Nimo (loaned from Salt Lake) Cameron Knowles (unilikely due to injury, but I think he could have played MLS before he got hurt) Quavas Kirk is being given the opportunity to prove he can play right back in MLS, but I just don't see it. Obatola? Maybe based on potential but I'm not convinced yet.
I am thinking 6 guys at the most with the current roster. Seattle can concur with that experience jumping into the MLS.
I hope it's only 6 or 8. MLS roster size is 26 players. So that is: 10 MLS level players from the expansion draft (I think teams can protect 10-11 players, so basically Ryan Pore level players) 4 youngsters from the super draft 6-11 USL "bring-ups" Which means 1-6 players need to be found to fill out the roster. I hope the team can find a few impact players outside of the two drafts and the USL or the team will be shit.
I think so yeah. Although Marcelin clearly has the physical tools, but he needs to put it together if he wants to be here next year.
