I just listened to Terry talk about TRob on Courtside. I hope he and his mindset is not an anchor to the development of his younger players. The questionewas asked has TRob earned more minutes with his play last night? And it didn't sound like if TRob was to continue this kind of play that he would allocate any more minutes for him once LA comes back to take his 36. I think if the players are on the verge of becoming something you build on it. I hope he is not stifling it by being adamant to play the starters. The fact is this team is probably limited on far it's going to go this year. You might aswell play them this year, develop them and prepare for the window in coming years.
That sucks, but... he is playing behind a 3 time all star. I'd say put him at C while Freeland is out and get some hustle boards down low... he's shown he can do that.
Yeah, we know he'll go after the boards when his mind is in the game. I would rather have him and Joel Freeland as the primary front court reserves. Of course, that depends on Freeland coming back hopefully soon.
He will probably start but the problem with that Is if Lopez or Robinson get in early foul trouble, there's no big on the bench to sub in for him.
I've been pretty positive and for Terry but if he is indeed stifling the younger players development it won't take me very long to be against. I go back the Clipper game in LA a couple weeks ago. CJ just reeled off 6 in a row and then no more after he did that, he pulled the hot hand and kept the vet Mo in the game. Made no sense.
So, are you expecting Robinson to take some of LMA's minutes? RoLo's minutes? This isn't Little League, where everybody gets to play.
If TRob is worthy of bigger minutes, I would expect there to be a rotation of just 3 bigs instead of 4. LA gets his 36 minutes, Rolo his 30, and TRob the remaining 30 minutes available at the 4/5. Basically, he would be taking Freeland's minutes.
So once everyone is healthy, what is your solution? Who's minutes would you cut? LA needs at least 34. Do you stifle Joel by giving him his center minutes? Some young player will suffer.
Stotts did that all last season and this season he wants to win now, not showcase the bench. I expect the bench to get way more time leading up to the playoffs but the best way to insure TRob or CJ get court time is to put teams away early and have the starters on the bench more in the 2nd half. 20 games over 500 and 10-3 in the division? This is a successful season and Stotts puts these guys in position to succeed. I like the way it's unfolding
I like Joel, don't get me wrong, but I highly doubt he's ever going to be much better than he is right now. That's not the case with Robinson. I don't know what the future holds for Robinson, but he could be a great insurance policy in case Aldridge did decide to leave. We need to develop him, we need to give him minutes, and those minutes have to come from somewhere.
If I remember right Meyers is out 2 weeks and Freeland longer, there will still be plenty minutes between back up c and pf
LMA is going to sign a max extension this summer, barring some catastrophic injury. If LMA somehow leaves, Thomas Robinson isn't going to replace him as a franchise player and All-Star.
I sincerely hope he does, and all indications are that he will, but Robinson is better than nothing. Not saying he'll ever be as good as LA, but he has the raw tools to be a solid starter.
Yeah, 2 more years and then he's a restricted free agent. I doubt he's going anywhere. I just really don't want another Jermaine O'Neal.
I'm calm. That guys been busting players balls and being wrong for years and it gets frustrating. If I came on here and spewed the verbal diarrhea that he does..... I would EXPECT people on here to bash me!
Hopefully Robinson matures into a guy who can sop up all the backup PF and C minutes. But if he reaches his potential, in all likelihood he's too good for that role and we'll decide to trade him for pieces of greater need. That's probably a year or two away at best.
