And that's really too bad. Twitter actually is a horrible, very non-intuitive platform. I have a pal who wrote a NYT bestseller about Twitter. He calls it "a clown car that got lucky."
I have never understood it... I get that media can use the heck out of it, but the average everyday person... I don't get it.
This sucks: I quit Twitter when Elon took over and it actually really improved my life, so this isn't going to tempt me.

You need a big user base of varying opinions to generate conversations and interest. Mastodon just became a bunch of liberal millennials with their nuts in a sling waiting for something interesting to happen. I think Threads has potential if it can exist in a way that attracts neutral users. If it's just Gab for people who hate Musk, I don't think the average person is emotionally invested in that war enough to make a permanent switch. I'm probably wrong and will have a Threads tattoo above my ass within the year, who knows. Definitely the most competently run Twitter alternative I've seen thus far.
