I agree in part. Crabbe is probably a better 3 point shooter but I thing Hendo's D is going to be a pleasant surprise.
When consolidating, it's assumed some of our rotation players are going out in the process. Even if all our rotation guys pan out, it's unlikely we're keeping them all. Moving a few of them along with Hendo/Kaman for salary filler would be a good idea depending on who you could get back. I mean, I'd drop the entire team minus Dame to get Paul George.
Without seeing Henderson I am in that camp too. But, it is clear that Henderson is a dynamic player, and maybe he is a bit better shooting in Stotts' system???? Crabbe isn't as flashy, but I like the solid shooting and defense.
That might be Neil's plan. Add one star-ish player through trade and hopefully sign a third star this summer with cap space.
I'm hesitant with the PG suggestion since he broke his right leg in a freak accident during a Team USA scrimmage.
He's fully healed, it wasn't a joint break..clean bone break, all healed. those breaks usually heal stronger than they were originally...if it had been a joint..I'd hesitate
I would be surprised if Indy traded PG. He's their only real remnant left from that ECF team, and he's still young. He's only 25.
and he's unhappy with playing PF for their small ball system this season..said he pretty much wants out..I'd trade them every white guy on our roster for him in a millisecond
Agreed. I can't see any way you get him unless we get a high lottery pick this year and trade that plus some talent. Pacers are more likely to rebuild around him. They seem like a relatively smart thing, but I can't imagine what possessed them to try and make him a PF without even discussing it with him first.
CJ/Aminu/Plumlee It guts our depth a bit, but I think we could weather it. Dame/Frazier Crabbe/Connaughton PG/Harkless Meyers/Vonleh Davis/Kaman Then this summer go after another big name player. Everyone will be going after Durant, but I'd like to make a run at Brad Beal and Al Horford.
I think this teams talent level from #2-#13 doesn't drop a whole bunch. As a result we are seeing slightly misleading results. In preseason we are seeing a considerable amount of Bench vs bench play... And our bench is better than most, but our starters are not. As the season goes along I still think we win in the 27-28 range, but with a lot of 8 point losses, and not a ton of blowouts. It will take this team about half the season to get into much of a cohesive flow.
Dame/PG/Horford is a WCF contender. God, that is a sick dream. Come on, Indy! We'll give you your midwestern boys (Nards/Plums) back!
This team plays hard (which I expected) and while I don't think their win-loss projection should move much off of my 27.5 over/under I suspect they won't endure the dozens of +20 points losses you usually expect to see from a team this young.
I don't think we'll be Philly.... but I also do not think we'll be the Orlando Magic under Doc Rivers.
I think we need to have a years worth of patience before we get all ramped up about trades for veterans. Obviously if a Paul George trade comes up you take it. But in reality what we need is to get this draft pick pick this year and still let the cream rise to the top. We have assimilated solid talent to build on, but it's very unlikely that this deadline we will net a big name with it. IMO most likely trade would be Kaman and Crabbe or Henderson.
