Duncan's Spurs also beat the champion Pistons in 2005. For Hakeem to beat the Knicks, a team that the Bulls knocked off more than once (and a team that almost lost to the Bulls without Jordan), just doesn't prove as much as if he would have done it against the Bulls. Whereas TD beat the three peat Lakers, and beat the reigning champs, the Pistons.Something to Say:Wanna play stats?3 Championships2 Regular season MVP's3 Finals MVP's (one of only 2 players in history to get a finals MVP in each of three trips to Finals)First player to be on an All-NBA and All-Defensive team in 1st 8 seasonsJust 5th player to be on all-NBA first team for first 8 seasonsAll defensive first team 6x, All defensive 2nd team 2xRookie of the YearCo-MVP of 2000 All Star GameNamed an NBA All Star 7 straight seasons (no ASG in 1999)Among active NBA players ranks fifth in career scoring average, fifth in career FG percentage (.507), ninth in rebounds (7,139) and seventh in blocked shots (1,488) Leads all players in the NBA in double-doubles over the last eight seasons with 445 double-doubles in 586 career games (this was before this season)Has 18 regular season 20-20 games and two triple-doubles In the postseason has nine 20-20 games and three triple-doubles Holds the record for the most blocks in an NBA Finals series (with 32 in 2003) and tied the record for most blocks in a single Finals game (with 8 vs. New Jersey on 6/15/03) Named to the All Tournament Team for the 2003 FIBA Americas Men's Qualifying Tournament after leading the U.S. Team to the gold medal Named the 2003 USA Basketball Male Athlete of the Year22.1PPG12RPG3.1APG2.4BPG50.5FG %As someone else said, they are very comparable statistically speaking, so it all comes down to the accolades where I feel Duncan has edge.</div>OK Duncan had 1 more chip than Hakeem, yet as aforementioned, 1 was with DRob against a weak team, and the other was 04/05 which was a stacked and deep team.2 MVPs, and at tops only one of them should've been his. Hakeem finished 2nd in MVP voting to DRob and Barkley so he very well could have had 3 consecutive.Hakeem was the first ever to get DPOY, MVP and Finals MVP, so they're both firsts. He also did well except in 91, which was the only year he wasn't spectacular.Hakeem had 2 finals MVPs, and only 2 finals, so they're both a perfect 1.000ROY? Well who was going against duncan? I mean, he had a shortened season, a great mentor in DRob, and no other candidates. Everyone knows who Hakeem was going against. He finished second to the GOAT. That's hardly a bad thing.Co-MVP of an all star game? Well good for him. That means a lot. The most pointless game of the year and he won a CO mvp. Please.EDIT: I JUST NOTICED. http://www.nba.com/playerfile/tim_duncan/index.htmlCAREER GAMES PLAYED: 666.
^Seems like a lot of excuses to me. Bottom line is considering Duncan is still only 30 and has accomplished such an incredible amount already is just amazing.PS- Yes, Knicks were weak, but the Nets and Pistons weren't. Pistons were reigning champs and Spurs knocked them off, something Kobe, Shaq, Payton, and the other Lakers couldn't do the year before. The Nets were 2 time reigning ECF and had won 10 straight prior to Finals. If it wasn't for a huge 4th quarter flurry, Nets would have stretched the series to 7. Spurs had to beat teams like the Phoenix Suns, 3 peat Lakers, Mavs, and other fantastic teams to get to the Finals, while Hakeem didn't have such tough competition.

Well I have to say Tim Duncan even though I am an HOla fan. They both had some serious competition when playing in the playoffsBut what Tim duncan does with such small quality of back up bigs or support. is amazing. His game has gotten faster too, not much but if u noticed he moves faster. HOla was just pretty crafty and damaging inside. Duncan is the best both worlds on offense. Hitting those bank shots and that game winning 3 pointer in the playoffs... for a borin as$ mofckah he sure does produce
This is a good comparison. I can't really say who is better. This is a pretty hard choice. I'll just drop some of Hakeem's info, though. Here:- Two finals MVP titles- Two championship rings (back-to-back)- 1993 and 1994 DPoY- six-time All-NBA First Team member- three-time All-NBA Second Team member- 1994 Season MVP- three-time All-NBA Third Team selection- five-time All-Defensive First Team nominee- four-time All-Defensive Second Team selection- Twelve-time All-Star- 1993 IBM awardThe Dream has better awards and more acknowledgement, but at the same time, TD has enough to be considered one of the top big men of all time. It's a pretty hard choice. I might not be able to choose any time soon.
I pick hakeem why, I just think he's a better clutch performer and a better leader. Hakeem was able to lead a team to back to back titles and I haven't seen that from tim yet...........I don't like stats and I'm basing my opinion from what I've seen.Tim is a good playoff performer but how many times did you see him hit a game winning shot............I remember 2 seasons ago in detroit where he missed an open put back and have to beat the pistons in the overtime through robert horry, compare that to the one hakeem made against the magic in game 1 in the finals. Now let's go to the free throw shooting where duncan can be a liability in the end of the games (where hakeem is money)..........again in detroit 2 years ago where he couldn't make a free throw.Thing is I'm more confident with hakeem having the ball with under 1 minute left in the game than duncan...........Tim plays good in playoffs game but disapper in the last minute in my opinion, how many times did he miss against dallas, there's a few shots. Hakeem is more clutch than Tim that I can say, I can't show you guys any stats coz I think stats are misleading. I think I've seen a few games from both players in their prime to make my judgement count..........llol.Tim is still playing so this could changed but as of now hakeem > duncan.

In 04/05 they had Nazr to back him, who was decent at the time. This past season he wasn't used and they lost. No to mention duncan's crying and whining is probably why NO flooded. Find me footage of Olajuwon bitching and crying and moaning at least 3 times a quarter. You can't. He shut up and played the game.
