I grew up watching Earl Weaver; he's the manager I learned the game from. And Earl's powerhouse Orioles teams weren't married to a specific closer. He had Eddie Watt as his primary righthanded reliever and Pete Richert as his No. 1 lefty reliever and he deployed them based on situation.
