sure, the go before deadline but if you are talking about blow up then I assume Dame & CJ will be on the block, as two assets.
Just a reminder: we traded away our first rounder for 2022 (somehow making that three years in a row) in the Nance trade.
Nurk is terrible, every time we play a Center with some bounce he absolutely humiliates him (see Rudy Gobbert), he has no atleticism, is fat and out of shape. The best player on the Blazers based on his impact on plus-minus numbers has been Tony Snell and Nurk is just a part of the starting lineup that has been beaten by 20 by the Spurs' (!) starters.
Tony Snell needs to replace Covington in the Starting Lineup. Generally speaking, I would absolutely overhaul the rotation before blowing up the team.
Lol, ive been checking it out for a week our so. Number one and two projections ate a 7’0 stick from gonzaga and a 6’10” bull from Duke… who i think could be our future four.
I think we can rebuild it quite a bit without blowing it up. Trade CJ and Covington. Neither guy is going to be happy as a bench player, which is what they should be on the current team. So they have to go. Commit to Dame, Norm and Nurk. Everything else is an asset that can be included as an upgrade at forward. We're not trading Dame, and we only want pieces that fit really well around him because that's what you do with a superstar. Norm is a perfect complement at SG, and Nurk (despite his many flaws) is absolutely a great complement to Dame at center. I'd want a pretty solid commitment from Nurk that he plans on re-signing here, though. Without that, I'd trade him too. I'd like to see Nas, Simons and Nance stay, but to get quality you have to give up quality. So they are definitely available.
I actually don't think the team is far off from being a really competitive team, but it is going to require that we make some foundational changes. As everyone has said, CJ needs to go. That's #1. Nassir needs to enter the starting lineup. Roco and Nurk can go as well. It's time to make some big swings. We're talking CJ plus multiple picks/Roco. I'm okay losing some depth if it means we get more talent and better fits. Go for a Siakam or Simmons type player. There will be some cheap buys at deadline to fill out the roster. Make defense and hard work the identity. Nassir in the starting lineup would help with that as well as another forward in the acquisition for CJ/Roco/Picks.
Their contracts are done at the end of the season, so in essence you are trading value of maybe 5 mil. What will you get in return for that? more expiring deals. CJ and DJS to Cleveland for Rubio, Osman and Okoro
Roughly where I'm at as well. Wouldn't happen in real life but was able to pull off a couple trades in 2k for Turner and Simmons Starters Lillard Powell Little Simmons Turner Rotation Nance Jr Craig Lamb Zeller Deep Isaiah Jackson Paul Reed Jaden Springer Ben McLemore Greg Brown
There's always somewhere. If John Wall and Westbrook can get traded, so can CJ and Covington. The hard part is coming to terms with the fact that the guys you'd spent so much on weren't really worth much. After you swallow that bitter pill, well, you just move on and trade for similar value. It's not about upgrading. It's about side-grading. Move your bad fit/bad player guys for bad fit/bad players on other teams. Hopefully they are a better fit here. But even if they are just as bad in all ways, at least it's a change of scenery.
And even if they are just as bad in all ways, they are not the player who's a long-term member of the team so it's emotionally and politically easier to just bench them if necessary.
I've been calling him Bosnian Least that quote/tweet from CB today was a killer too Chauncey Billups: "I've never seen a team that needs its bench to inspire our starters. That shit is crazy to me. It's supposed to be the other way around."
