He's a moron, and it's hard to get over that. Swaggy P, Jennings, Westbrook, and more haven't and probably never will. That being said, 1) he's accomplished more sooner than I thought he would (so, suck it, me) 2) he's a very hard worker off the court. 3) he's humble. he has a chance - I'm rooting for him.
Like a lot of folks here, he is of average intelligence. Unlike a lot of folks here, he doesn't think he's smart.
He's not a moron. I actually think he might be so intelligent that he overthinks everything which leads to a lot of clumsy plays. Mccollum has the same problem, except he doesn't have Leonard's physical skills or natural talent. Swaggy p and Westbrook are just selfish ball hogs.
After the last 4 games in the rotation: 19.95 MPG | 9.25 PPG | 8.25 RPG | 58.33 FG% | 45.45 3P% | 100.00 FT% Misc Totals: 2 Steals, 1 Assist, 1 Turnover
I now have hope for the kid. That's not something I could say 365 days ago. I bow to those who saw this coming.
The fact that Hawes was Neil's #1 target last summer still sticks with me. I like Olshey - a lot - but he's had some questionable calls in his brief time with us. So, so, sooooo happy he whiffed on Hawes.
Well Hawes maybe sucking in LA right now, but that may have been different in Portland. I know you aren't a Aldridge fan, but there is a reason why Kaman has revamped his career and Lopez is having a career 2 years. When the attention is on Aldridge (usually having their best defender on him), that allows less attention on Lopez and Kaman. I could see Hawes coming in as the replacement for Aldridge (mid range to 3 point shooter) and Freeland being the same player he is for Lopez.
I still wonder, however, how Hawes would fare in our offense rather than LA's. It was said many times last year that Hawes in Philly is what we basically hoped Leonard would become. Now that he has done so, is it really all that unreasonable to think that Hawes couldn't/wouldn't have been at least as successful had he signed here?
Even if we got the PHI version of Hawes, I wasn't excited about the idea. And now that he's playing horribly on a supposedly high-octane offensive team, run by a player many consider to be one of the best PGs to play the game, I'm even happier that Neil struck out. Also, would we have been able to get Blake if we had succeeded in getting Hawes?
Yes, we would have, because Hawes would have signed for the MLE, just like Kaman did. My point, however, is simply that Hawes sucking in LA doesn't necessarily mean that Olshey was wrong to pursue him, because we don't know that he would have sucked here.
That's true. I guess I just like using the fact that he sucks now to validate my distaste for us targeting him in the first place.
Mags: Welcome to the "Meyers Leonard has a rare set of skills and athleticism for a very tall man and it usually takes very tall men a number of years to become proficient NBA players and he hasn't been a very tall basketball player for very long and it was nuts to conclude so early in his training that he would 'never' improve so be patient with his development it will most likely pay off big time" club. We saved you a seat.
Wow--that's a long name for this club. We could abbreviate it, but I'm not exactly sure how to pronounce "MLHARSOSAAFAVTMAIUTVTMANOYTBPNPAHHBAVTBPFVLAIWNTCSEIHTTHWNISBPWHDIWMLPOBT". A little help?
From the holy book of Meyers Leonard, on reddit. I was not always faithful but I repent my sins Now join me in prayer: Our Meyers, which art in rip city, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy skill has come. Thy will be done in game, As it is in practice. Give us this day our daily trey. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive you that trespass against us with your dumb fouls for three-ish years. And lead us not into temptation... of trading you for Wilson Chandler, But deliver us from evil. For the three line is the kingdom, The power, and the glory, For ever and ever. Amen. And fuck the Rockets.
ANYONE who takes a double-pump underhand 3 pointer with 5 or 6 seconds on the clock is a moron, period. If Shaq cared, Leonard would be a Shaqtin' a fool champ.
