Except for CJ, Dame has seen every single player he's played with 5 years ago leave. There are only 2 active players in the entire league who have stayed 10 years on their original team. CJ is on year 8. I don't see him making it to year 10. Dame's a big boy. He understands that unless you're a franchise player committed to your team, the meter is always running. I never would have guessed 5 years ago that we'd still be talking about Dame and CJ and how much they overlap and how much sense it would make for us to trade CJ for a useful forward. It's insane that we're still having the exact same discussion.
We seem to be playing much the same with CJ as without him and certainly have more players involved. I think the best way he can help the team is in what he can bring back.
Would you trade your son in law if you knew your wife and daughter would make you pay big time! ....lol
Not much to see here though since they have Capela so no need for Nurk and they have Bogdanovic and Huerter so no need for Trent. Collins would be a good get, but I don t see a way.
I don't care how you want to cut it, his natural position is at SG or the 2 if you want to put it that way. He's not going to be as successful at the 3 or SF.
he can play both positions, but we use him as cj mccollums backup and if were going to continue doing that, im not sure it would be good idea to pay him a lot of money theres few options: pay him a lot of money, keep him as a backup for cj mccollum and if he continues his development, were gonna trade cj mccollum (during or after the next season), or we start him at small forward and trade jones jr or maybe he declines his option, so we play trent jr and little at small forward and hood as cj mccollums backup... considering olsheys love for our backckourt, the later option seems pretty realistic lillard/simons cj mccollum/hood trent jr/little collins/covington nurk/kanter
What about a trade centered around CJ for Dray. Supposedly Dame has pushed for Green, they share the same agent and it’s a position of need. RoCo and Dray might be nice together defensively.
Why would Golden State do that? Green is the heart of their defense and has great offensive chemistry with Curry. They're at their best when they go small and he plays point-center for them.
Both Green and Siakam's teams have too much invested into guards for CJ to make sense for them. I keep saying that we can probably get Randle from the Knicks for CJ and Rivers too. I know that he doesn't have as much history as the other two do and it is risky because we might be buying high on Randle but if he's just finally put together all of his skills with his size and athletic ability he'd be amazing to have. So simply. CJ for Randle and Rivers. We would save a bunch of money now and next season but probably want to extend Randle in the off season with the idea that he'll be Dame's number two guy for the rest of Dame's career.
Golden State has something to hold onto. Eventually Klay comes back and their young guys develop. They might be able to make another run. Toronto is one breath away from blowing it up. Lowry isn't the same player anymore. Kawhi was the piece that made that team go. But I don't think they're going to trade Siakam. I'm wondering if Jimmy Butler could be had if the Heat continue to suck. CJ/Simons/Collins for Butler. Go sign Napier who I think is still a free agent.
