And who can forget 'No tippin' Pippin'?

I told my kids the same thing - you don't like the amount I tipped, feel free to add to it. And of course, if I get great service, I leave a great tip.

But I'm just talking about the baseline here - good service for a good meal. I don't see how I am expected to pay 20% for that every time. Not my job to fix pay inequities in the hospitality industry.

    What about for drinks?

    I usually do $1 a beer.
$2 if its a mixed drink
    $3 for a cocktail
$4 some a cocktail that takes effort

    If I have a tab, I just tip 20-25%.

Tip: Put a fake hatch on your septic tank so people think that is your secret underground bunker.

I'll tip strippers $1 each time they come near me. 2 if they do something fun.

I'm surprised they don't tip you to not come near them.

True, they only target lonely nerds. A cool guy like me, they will be lucky to get $4

    Tipping is a ridiculous concept.

I usually aim for about 20%, but I round the total so sometimes it comes out higher or lower than that.

many restaurants now just arbitrarily write in 15-20%, regardless of service.

As a War Baby I always used 15% min but also am very generous for kind/superb service.

Im a sticker when it comes to service. The industry I retired from put much emphasis on customer service & relations.
Its to bad when "The Food Was Great" but "The service was lousy". The flip side isn't so nice ether.

Clyde was the Blazer tipper at Oswego Grill on the river, during his time here. Compared to the other players and even different team players.

20+% is right. It is the new norm. Some things you tip higher on, like beer or coffee.

I add money to my father's tips all the time.

And I have a 16 year old, so I'm not all that young. Gen X.

I've got a really cheap ass brother-in-law and I also throw in extra for the tip when he's not looking. He sometimes leaves less than 5% and it's extremely embarrassing.

Depending on the restaurant but if it's a buffet type place I leave a buck a head plus whatever effort I think the wait staff has gone to. I usually plug in a buck for each little nicety that they've done for us. At a buffet this can be about $4 to $5 a head, more it it's a nice buffet.

My wife & I are retired and living on limited incomes, but we always tip as we did when working.
Her 95 year old mother like to tip more than she could really afford, but she gets great pleasure in giving.
