i don't think he's selfish, but he is one of the more overrated players in NBA history. his 23 million expiring in 2010 will make things interesting for somebody. don't see how it would help us though.

a healthy mcgrady was one of the top 5 players in the game.

if he can get healthy, this makes us a contender, if not we have a huge expiring for next season. dont see it happening though.

I believe at this point of his career, that Tmac just wants to win. It is much like KG who had that championship failure hanging above his head every year. He is a much different person now, than he was back then.

I also think it is about the part of his career, where like AI now, he recognizes he may have to take a secondary role in order to get to the promised land.

The salary is a concern...if you are not winning. Chances are though, when he comes up for free agency next time, it will not be for the amount of money he has signed for now. He may actually be the type of player you can retain.

A scottie pippen role perhaps? What would we be giving up for him though? I wouldn't want to give up much at all to be honest

Not at all. Firstly, I don't really want to help Houston. Even without McGrady, they have Yao and Artest. They're not a bad team. I'd rather they keep trying to figure things out, as opposed to making a trade and putting it all together.

I'm sure that's what the entire league is saying about us.

Well considering Houston probably isn't considering trading him to begin with, I have no idea what they would be looking for. You don't trade a big piece for him. You are looking for a many generic run of the mill player for a star player in your ideal trade scenario. If you are on their end, your not looking for that, unless you want expiring contracts so that you can go after a different free agent later.

Well amazingly enough we have those. Raef. Frye. Diogu. They all expire within the next few years. Mix in a little talent and or draft picks, and you might hve a trade.

Except I'm sure some of our pieces are worth more than an aging Tracy McGrady.

Orlando offered him a max contract and Orlando was his home town.

He signed knowing (expecting, anyway) he'd share touches with Grant Hill.

    Re: Tmac to PDX?

Essentially, Houston has no incentive to deal him. The only way McGrady makes sense to another team is basically getting him for free...his contract is so large and McGrady misses so much time that no one is going to give up talent for the "benefit" of paying McGrady's contract, hoping for a resurrection. And Houston, committed as they are to this attempt to contend, doesn't benefit from dumping McGrady for nothing. All they can hope for is that resurrection. Perhaps that they reach the playoffs and McGrady is healthy for them.

I'll say it . . . I would like to see the Blazers get Tmac.

I'm not concerned about injuries as it will give time to Webster and Batum to develop during the season.

Tmac's experience could pay huge off huge during playoffs and he becomes a chip next year for anyone who want to enter the Lebron sweepstakes.

There is no way T-mac would retire and give up all that money. I'm pretty stumped as to what it could be... Maybe out for the season?

I would hope not. I stupidly drafted him in the fifth round of my most competitive fantasy league. He's been trash so far, and I was hoping that he could rebound later on in the season.

McGrady is taking two weeks off to condition himself. How sad is that?

Oden pushed through it and is better for it. *edited: No sexist slurs*

My buddy did the same thing while I was giving him advice on who to pick. I told him no, he picked him anyway because he was thinking too much in terms of T-Mac's name value

*edited: No sexist slurs* is made of glass. He's on the fast decline. Of course, if he can get healthy he'd be a huge addition. What are the chances of that happening? not likely, IMO.

McGrady's a stud when healthy, but the problem is he's NEVER healthy for more than a few games at a time.
