Lakers got in trouble when they went away from Davis. Davis standing out there about 35 feet away almost whole 4th Quarter. Then LeBron trying to do everything on the offense end.

Isn’t that the point though? Their bench is strong enough that they can get away with resting their starters against a team that many “experts” expect to contend for the title. It’s just one game obviously, but it’s a pretty impressive just one game.

sure...I was just pointing out that comparing another team's bench to the Clippers can be misleading because they have rather unorthodox rotations.

I get your point, but any way you look at it, Green, Harrell, Harkless and Williams are all capable of being starters in this league. Their only bench weakness looks to be at center.

The statement was that they had no depth which is different than just talking about bench minutes.

And with the way the NBA is right now, lacking centers off the bench isn't as big a deal as it used to be. Especially when Harrell plays much bigger than he is.

Does anybody know if a player has ever lead his team to a title in one conference and then follow it up by winning a title the next season in the other conference?

It doesn't happen very often where the NBA Finals MVP switches to the other conference that summer.

there was more than one statement about the bench. HCP did the HCP thing which which seemed to come from somewhere between Troutdale and the Twilight Zone

I was responding to the statement about the Clipper bench scoring 59 points and pointing out a big reason for it. They led the league in bench scoring last year and will very likely do it again this season. The 5 starters tonight averaged 23 minutes; the 4 bench player averaged 31. That's upside down from most teams. Last season, the 5 main Blazer starters averaged 30 minutes

Clippers will also be a prime buyout players destination, the way they have been managed and being in LA and competitive. That will help them address any issues they may notice by February, though this years buyout market may not be that good with few genuinely terrible teams and also few expiring contracts of experienced players on those. Memphis, Phoenix, New York are my assumptions for locks not to make the playoffs, joined by some of Atlanta, Chicago, Sacramento etc. in the meantime - I cannot even name 7-8 teams that I’m certain won’t make the playoffs. Seems like both conferences easily have 12 teams capable of getting there.

I hate it. Was super distracting and totally unnecessary given that a digital clock is literally already on the screen.

They did, and I'm really coming around to their tactic of having their best scorer (yes, I think Lou Will is still the best scorer on their squad) and best big both coming off the bench and just terrorizing second units. I hate that I have to respect Doc's coaching.
