I've met a TON of people from Michigan. They come here for work. I know this sounds fucked up but I can honestly say only about 10% of the ones I've met are decent, the rest are complete fucking dipshits. They usually are only here for a month tops before they are in jail for punching someone or stealing something. I don't know what the deal is. Too much Kid (or crack) Rock on the brain.

Negative, I'm an Oregon native - but I happened to be living there at the time.

    Well, he's practically comatose now.

Saw him at the Civic Center in the 80's, making fun of black thugs, gangsta wannabees, and race-victims.

Pretty sure most "stars" are secretly pieces of shit we'd be embarrassed to be associated with. It takes a large degree of sociopathic makeup to become either filthy rich or world famous.

One thing I learned from my sophomore in high school English class for accelerated students was that you proof read everything. I'm usually good at it but we all sometimes slip up.

I disliked that English teacher and said something nasty about him which he overheard. The class was right after lunch break. We all were sitting around the classroom waiting for the teacher to return from lunch and begin our class. I had my back to the door and didn't see him enter the room when I made my nasty remark. It was a hot summer day and I was drenching with sweat mostly from nervous worry at the end of the class the heat just made it worse. This teacher was also my high school counselor for the next 2 1/2 years. I had a very uneasy relationship with him all that time. Graduation time rolled around and during the ceremony when they were awarding all the scholarships he called my name. I couldn't believe it. They had to call my name twice. A fellow student next to me nudged me and told me to get up there and get my scholarship. Would you believe that teacher, my high school counselor, was the head of the scholarship committee? I still remember him with fondness over a half century later.
There are some notable exceptions: Paul Newman, Kirk Douglas come to mind immediately.

I remember explaining to my nephew about how back in the day you'd get phone books with peoples names and addresses in them, and that's how you'd find out the phone number (and even address) of someone who went to your school.

I.e., calling the home of someone in the phone book with the same last name of a girl you're jonesing for and hoping it's the correct one.

His response "Why didn't you just message her facebook?"

He's not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

Kids these days don't know how easy they have it...they can easily stalk someone online in a matter of minutes...in our day, you actually had to work at it.

I've seen several cars flying them and one in a guy's house down here, it's a redneck thing I think, regardless of the state.

Best thing you've ever posted. Too bad everyone diverted your thread. You should post more often on the off-topic board. I now know I dislike Kid Rock.

I'm a Veteran of a foreign war and a lifetime member of the VFW, my family is all from the deep South, and I would not ever attend an event with the Confederate Battle flag prominently displayed.

I could explain why but the only ones who would agree with me are the ones who already agree with me and my message would fall on deaf ears for all others.

I've been down in the south for nearly 3 months now, longest time I've spent here. I'll be the first to admit that it just different than Oregon (my home for my first 29 years). Have seen a couple people displaying the confederate flag either on their porch, or their car, or something. Had a conversation the other day with a coworker when he said,

Uh, sorry bro, but that's a racist ass statement. I had really liked the guy before he said that too. Made me sad.
