The reason the Nets suck is because Yi has no help. He needs a fucking point guard and a decent center.

Yi at 25 is over a year behind where Dirk was at 22. So, best case, Yi is 4 years behind Dirk. The problem is, Yi at 25, is likely much closer to his peak performance than Dirk was at 22.

No it doesn't mean anything of the kind. By what convoluted logic do you come to this conclusion?

You do understand there is a very wide range of possibilities between "star" and "worthless". They could be good, above average, average, below average or bad - which would make them neither stars nor worthless. Truth be told, the Nest have zero stars, very few above average players, a lot of below average players, and several who basically are worthless. Nearly half the players on their roster have single digit PERs.

Lopez has a PER of 20.6 and is only 21. He's considerably better than Yi already and four years younger.

Harris has been injured and isn't playing nearly as well this year as last, but I wouldn't (and didn't) call him worthless.

    indeed

The reason the Nest suck is their second best player is barely above average.

I go back to the Dirk comparison - by his third season, Dirk was the best player on a very good team (that included two future MVPs), with a PER of 22.8.

Yi is basically slightly above average on a team loaded with very below average players.

While Lopez, Yi and Harris don't suck, they aren't nearly good enough to carry a roster full of scrubs - as indicated by their historically bad record.

    I'm a bit confused:
    Yes, I probably would.
Devin Harris, PG and Brook Lopez, C...who don't suck...aren't enough? I'd surmise that starting PG and C are the two places where the Nets are ok. :dunno:

He's adjusting to his new role on the team. They keep changing the "way we want to play" and Yi can't get comfortable out there. If he was on New York, he'd be averaging 25/9/2. I guarantee it.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
If you or I were on New York, we'd be averaging 25/9/2. It's the nature of the system. That doesn't tell us much about Yi.
