and Stotts better put him in the rotation!

But I think both will happen. Remember Baldwin played in front of little dude in the playoffs.

I agree in concept, but what if he knew how good Baldwin would become, and he also knew the free agent market in 2019, and he didn't get a sense of loyalty from Baldwin, would it make sense to spend a year on him, develop him, just to lose him and have him end up locking up Dame when he plays for another team?

I would say it would make sense to spend a year on him. Otherwise he's locking up Dame next year lol.

I agree. I would have an off line discussion with him and see if I can get him to informally commit to staying on if he is given minutes.

My comment was more that if NO decides to cut WBIV, there could be a reason for it, and it might be related to not being able to re-sign him in one year.

If olshey cuts Baldwin I’m not watching a blazer game until he gets fired.

I know you're being facetious, but for me, there is actually some truth to it. Why?

We all disagree about many, many things, but there are certain fundamental things we all agree on. I don't want to drag politics into it, but that, for me was violated with the election of Trump. Like me, Neil is all about value, and I am a big Neil supporter. If he cuts Baldwin, he would be violating something fundamental I thought we all agreed on.

CJ is our only guard that we can trade. Curry, Simons and Trent cannot be traded this Summer, we aren’t moving Lillard and nobody is taking Turner and Baldwin can be cut but not traded. The amount of guards we have does not indicate a trade at all because even if we trade CJ we will need to replace him with someone more experienced than our young guys.

I’m actually not being facetious. If this franchise isn’t willing to invest money, or make the necessary changes needed to win, I have no reason to continue supporting them.

So actually, I should rephrase. If they cut Baldwin, I’m done with the Blazers until I see an actual commitment.

Many clients mentioned something similar regarding the election. I merely explained that Trump won based on the rules of the election before it started. It's not his fault Hilary decided not to campaign in some of those states she barely lost. I didn't have a dog in the fight but helping clients understand how things work is part of my job.

It's a bit like a tennis match. The rules state that you can win many more games but actually lose the match. You win 30 games (7/6, 0/6, 7/6, 0/6, 7/6) and the winner of the match could only win 21 and they would still be the winner. That is how the game is played. My clients came away more educated with how the system actually works versus how you would think something was 'violated' as portrayed by the media. The same goes for the hacking mantra. But that is for another day.

    Back to basketball. :hoops:

I’m pretty sure Baldwin and the rookies can be traded. Not like that should happen though. If were going to roll with CJ, we have to dive into the tax. Cutting Baldwin would be doing the exact opposite, and that to me is unacceptable.

Indeed it’s only a 30 day protection for rookies so they can be traded at the beginning of August. Doubt we’d take them only to trade them.

Not sure about Baldwin. What part of his 2018-19 salary is guaranteed? I want him kept.

We actually need to trade CJ to have any flexibility with regards to tax and future FA signings. We can’t have $55million ties to the backcourt because it will greatly reduce our ability to add players elsewhere. Fortunately Nurkic got only $12million because otherwise we’d be stuck with them three as our main trio which isn’t enough.

Not sure any of his contract is guaranteed. Don’t see why we couldn’t TECHNICALLY trade him though. He’s still under contract for next season.

I don't hate Olshey for 2016 because I understand what happened and why.

However, that doesn't mean I'm not annoyed by it. We're still paying for it.

Spurs are rebuilding give them CJ, Turner, Meyers, two firsts, and a 2nd for Leonard, Aldridge, and Green.

No way, this line of thinking is absolutely crazy. If you are worried about losing him that much you guarantee his contract and then trade him to get something out of it.

We can 100% trade Baldwin, right now or after he is guaranteed (same with PapaG and Layman). The Hornets just traded Julyan Stone who had a non-guaranteed contract next year.
