Sorry to start new tread for this, but it bothers me. Since Spurs forced game 7, Blazers have more time to rest and regroup. I'm pretty sure Blazers remember this 5feb loss to Miami, when players were too rusty to play cos they had too much days off. Please Terry, don't let it happen again.
Most teams that do get a lot of rest time waiting on other teams do come out flat in game 1. You got to be able to win on the road in the playoffs.
They had already decided Game 1 of Round 2 would be Monday. I’m hoping Terry (and I believe) will have them ready. The time off benefits is in that it gives Kanter time to rest his shoulder. And should SA win game 7, we will have HCA in round 2.
I think time off in the playoffs is much different than time off in the regular season, the focus is much different. I can see coming out flat in the regular season, I don’t think we will see that in the second round.
Damage control...this time off is a blessing..mentally an physically. Enes especially. Stotts gave them 2 days off after the series win and it's back to the gym..CJ is coming off a strain...it's all good. Being fresh is going to be an advantage against an opponent coming off a 7 game series..
I think that team lost a mental edge and came out emotionally and mentally flat. Shouldnt have the same effect in the post-season.
It will give the guys more time to focus on game tapes of our opponents. Since Denver is pretty young I am really sure they were not ready for the uptick of the game in the playoffs (much like our team last year) and Pops knows how to pick a team apart given the time. Now that it has gone to game 7 it is a crapshoot on who is going to win so we need to prep for both.
From what I’ve read, 2weeks is about the minimum healing time for a mild shoulder separation. The Blazers have been noticeably quiet about Kanter. Hope I’m wrong , and I shudder to think about it, but I’d say that Game 4 of this series is the earliest we see Kanter play. Meyers, Collins and Skal are going to have to step up big time.
After Game 5, Stotts said Kanter would play but that he'd be playing through some sort of pain throughout the rest of the playoffs. The pain will not go away in the short term. Has anything else been said to contradict that?
What’s crazy to me is Denver/San Antonio will only have one day off between series. And if it’s San Antonio they’ll be spending that day traveling. NBA should fix that.
Agreed. All NBA players play injured. Fingers, toes, knees.... they all get tweaked during the season. The more rest the better. I don't think Lillard will get complacent. I expect the team to follow his lead.
I'm fine with it. Gotta move on with the playoffs or they'll take forever. If teams want rest, win in less than 7 games.
Exactly what one of my Dr clients said. Of course without knowing the degree of separation, he couldn't be precise but he talked about it being a pain management issue as much as anything for the most part.
Or..look at it this way.. Either SA or DEN get little prep time. Whether or not the Blazers come out flat is nobody's fault.
I didn’t hear that quote. I was just stating what I’ve read online about recovery time for a mild shoulder separation. I assume those estimates don’t really consider that your return to work means wrestling for position against 250 pound athletes. I haven’t heard anything at all from the Blazers. If Kanter can play through the pain and there isn’t a major risk of a more serious injury, then great.
