And Tim Duncan should be in the top five two time defending MVP, two finals MVP , who else has done that , not Malone or stockton,

no way is Shaq better than Hakeem. He's dominant because theres no other great centers in the league anymore but u could argue that robinson, barkley both better. certainly malones had a greater carreer as well even without a championhsip. rings arent everything. key example: kobe bryant

What are you saying? Shaq basically carried the Lakers to 3 titles with basically no help. Hakeem had a load a help Drexler, Cassell, Kenny Anderson, i could keep going on. Robinson never did anything, Tim Duncan won the titles for the Spurs . Robinson was just a role player. Shaq has a career average of 28 points only Iverson , Wilt , and MJ are higher. so get it right . Shaq is the 2nd best and Tim is the fourth. Hakeem is good too thats why i put him at 3. But not robinson,

Ever heard of Kobe Bryant? He is who undisputedly one of the best players in the league today. Shaq had a great supporting cast so for you to say he has no help is absurd. When they won their past three titles they had great role players who could really contribute for them.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Give SHAQ more RESPECT , the guy is the 2nd greatest baller of all time , and soon will be the goat </div>

Shaq is the 2nd best player of all time???? That is one of the ignorant remarks I have ever heard. I could name 10 basketball players that have played the game better than Shaq. Face it, Shaq isnt even the best player in the league today.

Hakeem was way better than Shaq has ever been. Do you remember seeing Shaq get schooled by Dream? I sure do. When Hakeen played there were alot of great centers(Ewing, Robinson). Shaq can dominate now because there arent any great centers anymore in the league. Hakeem dominated when there was great centers in the league and they were in their primes. I have never seen Shaq dominate a great center who was in their prime.

Shaq 2nd best of all time?!?!?!?!?! Wilt was a better player by far. Shaq isn't close to the 2nd best of all time.

But then you said Shaq isn't the best player in the league today? Yes he is. Tim Duncan is real close though.

But when Shaq got dominated by Hakeem, Shaq was so young. He was like 22 or something.

Yao Ming 03 04, stop trying to get your post count up. You made 3 posts in 4 minutes in one thread.

And you said only those 3 players have higher averages in pts, so what....pts aren't everything.

BTW, Kenny Anderson never played with the Rockets or Hakeem.

STCBBall3 and Yao Ming seem a little confused. The topic isnt best in the league today or best of all time. Its best in the last 20 years and you cant include guys like kobe or duncan as great as they are cause they just dont have a big enough body of evidence yet. Im asking people to only make lists of players drafted after 1983 and before 1995.

David Robinson won the MVP before Duncan was even in the league. calling him a "backup" is total ignorance. Shaq has never scored as much as Robinsons 29.8 (as close as he's come) in 93-94. and shaq hasnt played 80 games in a season since he's second year. something Robinsons did several times despite putting his career on hold to serve his country. Robinson scored 71 points in a game, 10 points higher than Shaqs career high.

Charles Barkley is about 8 inches shorter than Shaq but his career rebounding average is only one per game less. He was much more versatile and fundamentally sound than Shaq (plus he beat Shaq in a fight [IMG] ) averaged a double double over 15 years in a row

    Malone? Hakeem? dont EVEN, kid.

Hey you guys are twisting my words. I said Robinson was a role player in the last 5 years of his career, since Tim Duncan got there, lets face it , it was Tim's team. Why dont you guys give Shaq any respect just cause he is big. Greatness is defined by winning and Shaq is a winner as is Tom Duncan. Barkley is good but he never won anything, I m not saying is totally his fault but he ahad a big supporting cast in Phoenix, Thunder Dan , Kevin Johnson. Just look at Tracy McGrady and Kevin Garnett , they maybe the most skilled players in the leauge , but because they havent won they dont get any respect.

Nobody twisted your words, you literally said: 'Robinson never did anything, Tim Duncan won the titles for the Spurs . Robinson was just a role player.'
With the addition you made later it's a whole different statement. I still don't agree by the way that The Admiral was just a role player since TD joined the Spurs. Ofcourse it became Tim's team, but Robinson was very important, like the addition of Pippen to the Bulls was very important to MJ. Or do you think that Pippen was also 'just a role player'?

They get a ton of respect in my mind as do Malone, Stockton, Kidd etc. Just because they win doesnt give them "respect" and just because they havent won doesnt make them get no "respect". You saying that KG and TMAC get no respect is absolutely ludacris.
