<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Pure:</div><div class="quote_post">I usually don't like to openly criticize, but how do you put Marion as number one in the League? I mean, I wouldn't even consider him top ten. </div> I put him above Garnett for two reasons. One, he does alot of the same things without being the main focus of the offense but has alot more range (or at least uses alot more). Two, alot of people were leaving him off thier list completely which made it easier to put him at 1. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Pure:</div><div class="quote_post">He barely made my top twenty list.</div> Wow. That is just completely ignorant. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Pure:</div><div class="quote_post">He has some amazing dunks, and great defense, but he is in no way number one material. Tim Duncan, Shaquille O'Neal, Kevin Garnett, Kobe Bryant, Allen Iverson, LeBron James, and Dirk Nowitzki all should come before him. If you could get to talk to Marion, and asked him if he was the best player in the League, I bet even he would say no.</div> I guess we look at different things in a basketball player. My opinion is that pound for pound Shawn Marion is the best basketball player in the league. He isn't my favorite, but he is up there. I honestly don't care what you think, but, to "openly criticize" my opinion in a public forum is rude and uncalled for. If you would like to debate the best player in the league with me that is fine, lets go. If you would like to tell me what my opinion should be, then...that's even better, because you are starting at the disadvantage being unreasonable and idiotic. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Pure:</div><div class="quote_post">Also, Tesh15, do you honestly as an unbiased fan think that Vince Carter is better than Kevin Garnett and Kobe Bryant? He may be fascinating on the highlight reel, but when you look at his overall attitude to the game, I really don't think he deserves it. I can tell he is your favorite player, and that is fine, but I think you have taken it too far.</div> Here, you question Vince Carter as the top pick, and again give examples of people you think should be rated higher. You know what? we already know who you think should be higher rated. Ya know why? Because you posted a list. here it is;1- Kevin Garnett 2- Tim Duncan 3- Kobe Bryant 4- Shaquille O'Neal 5- LeBron James 6- Jason Kidd 7- Dirk Nowitzki 8- Allen Iverson 9- Tracy McGrady 10- Steve Nash 11- Dwayne Wade 12- Jermaine O'Neal 13- Amare Stoudamire 14- Ray Allen 15- Elton Brand 16- Steve Francis 17- Paul Pierce 18- Brad Miller 19- Stephon Marbury 20- Shawn Marion There, now you have your list posted twice, maybe that makes you feel important enough and you can leave people alone. Ya think? <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Pure:</div><div class="quote_post">Maybe I am the mistaken one. Is this list supposed to be the top twenty in the League skill-wise, or our favorite players?</div> You are mistaken, but, not for that reason. This is an opinion poll, not a test of who can remember your list best.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I still can't say that he is number one in the whole League when you have Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett. But, give him a couple years to bring up his defensive skills and just keep honing in on his skills, and I am sure I will be agreeing with you.</div> Seems as if we have a minor misunderstanding here? If we're ranking the players in terms of overall "greatness", LeBron would certainly not be at my number one spot. Instead it would have easily been Tim Duncan. But as far as THIS SEASON production goes, I had to put LeBron James at number one. But in actuality the real ?number one? is Tim Duncan. Overall 1. Tim Duncan 2. Shaquille O?Neal 3. Kevin Garnett 4. Kobe Bryant 5. Allen Iverson/Jason Kidd 10. LeBron James 2004-2005 Season 1. LeBron James 2. Tim Duncan 3. Steve Nash 4. Kevin Garnett 5. Allen Iverson/Shaquille O'Neal

Thanks for posting odde23, I enjoyed reading it. I agree, pound for pound, Marion is an amazing basketball player. I still don't see him at the top, but if you do it is fine with me. Sorry if I came off as making you sounds dumb, or anything like that. I always enjoy reading your posts, I wasn't trying to start a fight, just a debate. And now I am more confused, please someone clear this up. Is this list: Top players overall? Top players this year? My favorite players?
1) Tim Duncan 2) Kevin Garnett 3) LeBron James 4) Steve Nash 5) Shaquille O'Neal 6) Dirk Nowitzki 7) Jason Kidd 8) Kobe Bryant 9) Mateen Cleaves 10) Andrei Kirilenko 11) Jermaine O'Neal 12) Tracy McGrady 13) Dwyane Wade 14) Ray Allen 15) Chris Webber 16) Elton Brand 17) Allen Iverson 18) Ben Wallace 19) Pau Gasol 20) Shawn Marion BTW - I wasn't clear on whether to make this list based on this season or overall play, so don't take it too seriously. Also, moved to OOB.

Just wondering, I am not criticizing your picks

Just wondering, I am not criticizing your picks</div> I hate Americans, thus I ranked Dirk high. As for Mateen Cleaves, I know, it's a little low. I just couldn't bring myself to rank him over Kobe though; he's having a hell of a season. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">lol VC...Mateen Cleaves. Where's Mo Pete on the list?!</div> He was my #21. Too bad we could only do top 20. So many players deserved recognition.
Where is Mateen Cleaves right now <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">9.T-Mac what can he do besides score...............still looking for your response</div> Let's see: Rebound, pass, defend, if anyone wants to argue about his defense this season, let's hear it, because his opponent per is 14.3 which is 0.1 less than Kobe, his man to man defense has been very good this season. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> If we're ranking the players in terms of overall "greatness", LeBron would certainly not be at my number one spot. I will always agree to disagree, being as I disagree with so many people. There aren't enough hours in the day to argue with everybody that has a different opinion than mine, even though I am always right.
