I'm curious whether Schmitz actually wants Murray 'and' Jaquez on the roster together—or if it's more of an 'either/or' scenario (ie, the 'seasoned late first guy with less upside').

I think Ayton could have a chance at an all star game as the focal point of the Blazers' offense. Decent chance his usage goes way up if he's dealt here

From what I've seen, a team wouldn't be very good if Ayton is the focal point of the offense.

Nuggets won a Wold Championship with 1 all star.
Yes, Murray is close but hasn't been yet.

Exactly. They aren't the same players by any stretch, but role wise they feel fairly superfluous to me. I suppose you could take both to see if one pops, but it feels like we already have other guys with whom we are also trying to "figure out what we got" at the forward positions in Nas and Jabari. (Let alone if we were to add Jovic as well.)

I guess we disagree on how good Scoot and Shae will be.

Doesn’t that play right into the hands of the people who want to tank this year?

I suppose. There are far more combinations to lose than to win, so I don't try to think of how to build a roster to lose.

Based on how I define "greatness" I would agree with you. Not that neither of them can't be great, but there hasn't been enough to shown to expect greatness. To me, Scoot is more likely to be "great" than Sharpe.

To me, the treadmill was going into every season knowing that the most likely outcome was a first round exit. I don’t see how adding Scoot, OG and Ayton would guarantee that. I honestly have no idea how good that team would be this year, next year, or three years from now. So I’m not sure how anyone could toss the treadmill label on them.

Scoot and Shae are part of that. We really don’t know how good they will be, how quickly they will develop, etc.

I don't think he'd need to be the focal point. But he could be A focal point.

Grant to Cleveland is still a good idea. For something.

What I see is that Scoot and Ayton should be good/very good at putting pressure on the hoop.
It's already very difficult to stop Scoot from getting where he wants to go, but if he had a teammate center with the size, hands, and finishing ability that Ayton has, the other team would probably have to have 3-4 defenders sagging in, then you pop it out to an open 3-point shooter or someone else cutting to the hoop.

Ayton becomes a very important part of the offense whether he scores or not.
It's a pick-your-poison offense which I think is what every good offense strives for.

What did I tell you guys? I keep saying this. Dame needs to be persuaded that Toronto is a good destination for him. Dude doesn't have a no-trade clause but is wielding just as much power. Boss move.

WTF is Goodwin doing? He needs to realize that a whole country is going to buy his kicks and Drake will be doing features with him in future albums. Sell your client on that, you POS.

The Toronto Raptors have convinced numerous teams around the league that their interest in trading for Lillard is genuine.

The uncertainty at this point stems more from gauging Toronto's true willingness to push all the way forward with its Lillard pursuit when it's believed that the All-Star guard, behind the scenes, remains so resistant to the idea of becoming a Raptor.

this is put rather oddly. their interest is genuine but they may not make an offer?

I get that there's a wide spectrum between 'monitoring' and 'made an offer', but at a certain point, masai, put your offer in. no more foreplay.

there is a very tangible risk involved in giving up valuable players AND the opportunity cost of bringing on a disgruntled malcontent who is owed 216 mil for 4 more years. It was no coincidence that the past few weeks, we have heard how Dame will ask out again if Toronto trades for him. Given the bullshit put out by Shams/Amick/Haynes as Goodwin's mouthpieces, this hesitancy by Masai is warranted.

For the past few days, I've been harping on this. The biggest hurdle remains his disinterest in any destinations outside of Miami. Needs to change. And Goodwin needs to talk some sense into his client, but both seem pretty clueless at the moment. There are so many positives about Toronto that they are ignoring.

    This is a good summary.
