    You keep OG

Having a player like that will have a huge impact on the development of Scoot and Shae.

Sure, but there are some other things to consider.

    Age:
    Ayton - 25
    Nurk - 29

Minutes played (from your stat sheets):
    Ayton - 9282
    Nurk - 8165

I think that Nurk is going to be a real piece of shit after Dame is traded. I just flatly don't want him on our team. If we can replace him with a younger player who can start and be productive, that's fine with me. We can eat the additional 15 million at this point because Scoot and Shaedon are on rookie scale contracts. If he doesn't work out in the next few years, you dump him. This is the perfect chance to give him a shot and a change of scenery. He's the perfect high risk/high reward option, but is he even really high risk? We're not giving up much to get him. Who else even wants Nurk right now?

Agreed. If we don't trade Nurk for Ayton I think we end up getting nothing from him as he pouts his way out of the league. In PHX he'll have another fresh start and motivation to prove himself.

Yes, I think you hit the nail on the head. Ayton still is coming into his prime. He has a chance to get better. Also, he's played essentially equal to or a little above Nurk in a situation where he felt rightfully or not as a pariah.

Then, if you get into the whole "age window" thing, he fits better than Nurk.

I'm not a huge Ayton guy and I think I'm not sure the distinction between he and Nurk in actual play is worth the difference in cost, but I also think it's undeniable that Ayton has a lot of room to get better, and his ceiling is monster level.

look (TM), I don't really care much if the Blazers add Ayton. The new CBA has pretty much eliminated in-season cap-space as a thing, so Portland will need salary. I guess Ayton's bloated salary is as good as any other bloated salary. But it is bloated

I just am not that impressed with Ayton and I think he'll be a problem child. If the Blazers can flip him for a first or two plus and expiring, I'd prefer that

He is definitely not, nor have he every been a better defender in the system Chauncy wants to play (switching as opposed to drop-coverage).

Also, notice that DA had a higher PER / WS despite a lower usage%

DA is not a slam dunk prospect for sure, but given Portland's salary situation, fit based on system and his age / potential for change based on a new environment, he is a risk worth taking, imho.

OG can walk after one season and wants more ball-handling and playmaking duties. Reminds me of Nicolas Batum who got the bag then got his wish to be a shooting guard in Charlotte and disappeared from the NBA radar.

"Maybe VanVleet’s exit will help create more on-ball opportunities for O.G. Anunoby, who changed agencies from Klutch Sports to CAA amid ongoing questions about his role in Toronto. Anunoby told representatives during meetings with prospective agents, according to people familiar with the situation, that he was searching for greater ball-handling and playmaking duties in advance of his upcoming contract talks. Without that chance in the Raptors’ offense under new head coach Darko Rajaković, there remains the ongoing possibility that Anunoby could request a trade from the franchise during what’s now the third season of a four-year, $72 million contract — which Anunoby relayed to potential agents he deemed was below his market value, but does include a player option before the 2024-25 season."

I think it is too quite. If a trade does not happen by Wednesday, i think Dame will be with us when training camp opens.

Did you miss where i said *today*? The momentum built up to a crescendo the past few days. Figured today would be a big day. But not a single update from any of our sources.

yeah, I guess I didn't pay much attention to the 'today' part since the noise of the last 3-4 days is still reverberating.
