    Jermaine Jenas

'JJ' enjoyed one of his best seasons for us in 2007-08, highlighted by his performances in the League Cup semi-final triumph over Arsenal and a recall to the England set-up.

The all-energy midfielder played in 45 of our 57 games in all competitions, scoring six goals.

That goal tally included the opener in the 5-1 semi-final, second leg win against Arsenal at the Lane in one of the best individual displays of the season - JJ scored one and set-up another two goals on that memorable night.

JJ made his name at Forest before a high-profile switch to Newcastle in February, 2002 and he made 149 appearances for the Toon, scoring 12 goals.

He joined us at the start of the 2005-06 season scoring seven goals in 32 appearances but despite scoring in the 'B' friendly against Belarus, didn't feature in the 2006 World Cup in Germany as England crashed out in the quarter-finals.

Jermaine remained an England squad regular when available in 2006-07, a season in which he made 35 appearances during an injury-affected campaign. Despite a low appearance total, he netted eight goals from midfield - including a memorable late leveller against Arsenal at the Lane in April, 2007.

His performances in 2007-08 earned an England recall from Fabio Capello and he scored the first goal of the new coach's reign against Switzerland at Wembley in February, 2008.

    Luka Modric

The Croatian international midfielder completed his move to The Lane from Dinamo Zagreb in July, 2008.

The 22-year-old played a key role in his country's run to the quarter-finals of Euro 2008 and was widely regarded as one of the players of the tournament.

Luka joined Dinamo in 2002 at the age of 16 before being loaned out to Bosnian side Zrinjski Mostar, where he earned the honour of Bosnian Player of the Year in his one season there.

In 2004 he returned to Croatia, again on loan, with Inter Zapresic, whom Luka helped to second place in the league before returning to Dinamo.

Over the next three years he established himself as the team's playmaker and played a big part in the club's three successive league title triumphs and two Croatian Cup wins before deciding to join Spurs.

    Jamie O'Hara

What a season for the young midfielder in 2007-08.

On loan at Millwall from August to November, 2007, Jamie returned to the club and grasped his chance under the new management of Juande Ramos.

He made his debut at Portsmouth in December, 2007 where he helped set-up our winning goal and repeated the trick off the bench in the League Cup quarter-final at Manchester City.

Those cameos earned a full debut at Arsenal and he went from strength to strength, his 25 appearances in all competitions including his first goals for us, a European debut and then a first call and first cap for England Under-21s.

To cap it all, he was then voted Young Player of the Season in May, 2008.

A product of our Academy, Jamie joined us in July, 2003 and cut his professional teeth in a loan spell at Chesterfield, making 19 appearances in 2005-06.

Capped by England at Under-16, 17 and 18 levels, Jamie made 13 reserve team appearances in 2006-07, scoring three goals, as well as being included in the first team squad on numerous occasions.

    Roman Pavlyuchenko

We reached agreement with Sparktak Moscow for the transfer of the Russian striker in August, 2008.

Roman, 26, has been capped 22 times by Russia and scored nine goals.

He hit the headlines in October, 2007 when he scored both goals as Russia beat England 2-1 in European Championship qualifying.

He followed that up with three goals in five games in this summer's finals - including goals against Holland and eventual winners Spain - as Russia reached the semi-finals.

Born in Mostovskoy, Roman started with local club FC Dinamo Stavropol before moving to FC Rotor Volgograd in the top flight in 2000. He switched to Spartak Moscow in 2003 and topped the goalscoring charts in Russia's Premier League in 2006 and 2007.

    Darren Bent

A strong, pacy forward, Darren joined us from Charlton Athletic in the summer of 2007.

He arrived at the Lane after making 77 appearances for the Valley side in which he scored 37 goals in all competitions during his two-year spell in South London.

He began his career as a trainee at Ipswich Town, where he made 141 appearances and scored 55 goals.

Found the prolific Berbatov/Keane partnership - 46 goals between them in 2007-08 - a tough nut to crack in terms of forcing his way into the starting line-up in his first season at the Lane but still scored nine goals in 36 appearances, including six league goals.

The London-born player won his first full England cap against Uruguay in March, 2006 and took his tally to three caps in the ill-fated World Cup qualifier against Croatia at Wembley in November, 2007.

    Giovani dos Santos

A star of the FIFA U17 World Championships in 2005 and FIFA U20 World Championships in 2007, Giovani, still just 19, already has full international honours with Mexico.

Giovani made 28 senior appearances for Barcelona in 2007-08, scoring three goals, after displaying his credentials in the B team, where he made 27 appearances and netted five times.

He said on joining: "It is a dream for me to come to a big club like Spurs. I've come here to further explore my qualities and give my all for my new team. As a young player I have come to a club where I feel there are many opportunities for me."

    Fraizer Campbell

The striker joined us on a season-long loan from Manchester United on transfer deadline day summer 2008.

Fraizer was top scorer for their Under-18 side as a first year scholar in 2004/05, scoring 14 goals in 22 starts as the Reds finished second in the Premier Academy League Group C. His performances at youth level led to him being called up to the Reserves, where he played five games and scored once.

The following season he scored nine goals as United's second-string lifted the Premier Reserve League, Play-off shield and Manchester Senior Cup treble.

Fraizer embarked on a loan move to Royal Antwerp at the start of the 2006/07 season, and quickly became a favourite with the fans, who nicknamed him "Super Campbell". His goalscoring exploits in Belgium underlined his rapid development and helped him earn his competitive United debut as a substitute in the Manchester derby at Eastlands in August 2007.

Another successful loan spell followed, this time at Hull City where his talents earned him a first call-up for England Under 21s in March 2008. He scored 15 goals in 32 starts during his time with the Tigers and helped them secure promotion to the Premier League following a play-off victory over Bristol City in May.

On his return to Old Trafford ahead of the start of the 2008/09 season, Fraizer hit two goals in six games during United's pre-season campaign and was handed his first ever Premier League start in the 1-1 draw with Newcastle United on the opening day of the campaign.

This seems like a young squad. How does it compare age and experience wise to the rest of the EPL?

    Starting XI for Spurs:

    GK Gomes
    CB Jonathan Woodgate
    CB Ledley King
    RB Alan Hutton
    LB Gilberto
    CM Jermaine Jenas
    RM David Bentley
    LM Aaron Lennon
    AM Luka Modrić
    CF Roman Pavlyuchenko
    CF Darren Bent

The only thing I would do is replace Gilberto with Bale, but he's still young so Ramos will not play him as often as Gilberto I bet. That would be a shame because he's a certified wonderkind. We should also see equal rotation between Hutton and Corluka. The squad is indeed very young on average compared to other EPL clubs, but it seems like that is the way Ramos wants things. He's definitely building towards future dominance, which is the best thing to do this era.

Spurs are a very young team, but Arsenal are definitely younger.

    Key Players:

    Alan Hutton
    Jonathan Woodgate
    Luka Modrić
    Aaron Lennon
    Jermaine Jenas

I'm not going to put Pav on that list yet, because we don't know how he plays in the EPL.

I clearly need some more help here. For comparison sake, I'm posting the lineups from their first three games as I'm not seeing any consistency.

Perhaps his line-up was affected by injury?

The players with (68) means that they were subbed on at that time.

Arsenal do indeed have the youngest squad and I have the numbers to prove it. However, Spurs are still one of the youngest squads in the league.

    Arsenal average age: 22.3 yrs

    Tottenham average age: 24.2 yrs

As for the Tottenham squad inconsistency i wouldn't worry about it. Ramos is either experimenting, which is good, or he's using players in different positions due to poor fitness of other players. It is after all still the beginning of the season. My guess is that he will fall on the formation I put up earlier. Zokora as a central defender is just not going to work.

On those lineups, are the players listed from back to front (goalie to striker)?

If so, does that mean he played Bale as a midfielder and a striker?
