It's funny how rich conservatives with lots of time on their hands sit around writing fake stuff pretending to be poor. A Koch-funded lobbyist no doubt wrote this.

Whether or not one is wealthy or poor has little to do with whether or not one has experiences with common people. I think it's safe to say that Barack Obama has lived a rarified and cloistered life. Sure, he played community organizer, but it's not like he lived among the people he was trying to help. His apartment was in Hyde Park, which as a former resident, I can tell you is an oasis.

When he needed help, with money, with a place to vacation, when he couldn't afford school or a house, that help found him. He was a dilettante. He played like he was down with the struggle, but he was never really a part of it. That's what happens when you live a connected life. Hell, Jay Rockefeller was more authentic in his work.

Barack Obama's experience has been whenever he has needed something, it has been provided for him. He hasn't had to struggle for anything.

Other Presidents from much more privileged backgrounds lived lives much more connected to common people, even George W. Bush. LBJ, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan and Clinton all struggled. They all experienced the plight of the common person. It would be a beneficial experience for President Obama to have the same experience.
