Blazers are historically under-rated throughout the league, but as far as being over-rated by fans: LaMarcus Aldridge, Rudy Fernandez, Travis Outlaw
People fetishise defense. But tell me, who wins this ball game? Team A: Patrick Beverly Tony Allen Bruce Bowen Dennis Rodman Ben Wallace Team B: Steve Nash Damian Lillard James Harden Carmelo Anthony Dirk Nowitski We all know team B would over-whelm team A with firepower.
Teams need balance. Defense and offense….. That second team has been close to tried already. Kd/kyrie couldnt win. Kd/ booker hasnt won Imbeed and harden couldnt win. teams keep stacking offensive players together and it hasnt been working. Yet teams like Milwaukie and gsw are top ten defensive champs. how a look at the defensive and offensive slots of the past ten champs? Pretty sure defense rates higher?
Portland is playing Camara a lot because even as a rookie he's the best of their other forward options not named Grant. He's a good sized athlete who can defend, but his jumper looks like he's making best guesses with a trebuchet. His size allows the frontline to switch on screens which is valuable for team D, but I'm sure that management knows they will need to improve the position in time. That need was even more glaring when they traded for him. STOMP
It might be my new favorite thing: During the first full year of a multi-year rebuild, instead of enjoying the progress we watch of players, posters decide to make threads about how shitty our rookies are being before giving said rookie the time to learn the league and celebrating the positives of that rookie. Like come on. Perspective is cool, find it.
LaRue Martin Wally Walker Jeff Lamp Walter Berry Shawn Respert Telfaire Martell Webster Meyers Leonard (hyped for years by Olshey) I don't remember a lot of hype for Woods; maybe more after his summer league MVP's. Besides, he was a 21st pick when the draft only went 28 deep in a round.
This team needs to be careful with how many pieces it collects that can't shoot. We've already invested a lot in a PG that can't shoot.
What exactly have they invested in Camara? Not resigning/trading away more expensive options in Watford Winslow and Little, I guess. Were any of those players difference makers in your eyes? They have Toumani on a 4 year 7.6M deal where the only guaranteed money is for this year. During that time frame we're all hoping for development from their youngins before contracts for Sharpe and Scoot can be reupped. I'm hopeful it's Joe's plan to clear salary space to lure top FAs more aligned with their timeline prior to going over again with Sharpe. The 3rd hope is for them to hit on more of their upcoming lotto picks and obviously they'll be prioritizing forwards. If Camara develops a reliable jumper, awesome! If not, it will be no big deal to part with him. STOMP
Lol. Freaking lol. Let's see.....team not winning so......Ooooo! I know! I think I'll denigrate a guy who has barely played in the league! 12 games is a true gauge of future performance, isn't it? I mean, our height disadvantage both pre and post injury storm shouldn't have a damned thing to do with it. He should excel no matter who he mans up with. Feel soooo much better now. In all seriousness, wha?
