That limits the value then. There are only so many players teams would give up for a TPE no? Courtney Lee might be worth more than that although I'd love him. Shumpert seems like a more realistic target but the question becomes, is he worth the luxury tax payments? Nevermind I see we can add picks. Yeah give me Lee
Now this is a great idea. 5 out of 5 prunetangs approve of this trade. And 4 out 5 got hard dicks thinking about it (the 5th prunetang has terrible taste).
Right. Have to use it by next summer. So get under the LT threshold for this year so the Blazers aren't a repeater next year, then use it after July.
I love Bradley but I think it's a pipe dream and he's also wanting the Brinks truck this offseason. Shumpert is a decent pick as a guy who would benefit a lot from playing in Stott's offense. Cleveland, an iso heavy offense, is about the worst place for a player like him, as he just stands in the corner there. There was a time when he had a ton of value in New York. I think Terry could salvage him as a great 25 mpg guy next to Dame and CJ. I think that Aminu for Shumpert makes both teams better personally, but that's just me. Dame (36)/CJ (36)/Shumpert (24) - backcourt Turner (28) / Harkless (20) Vonleh (18) / Swanigan (18) / Harkless (12) Nurkic (30) / Leonard (18) With Phys Ed playing when they need a vet presence out there/injuries.
Better yet: (Would be a mid-season trade) CLE Gets: Avery Bradley, Ed Davis DET Gets: 2018 POR 1st, 2021 CLE 1st POR Gets: Jae Crowder, Iman Shumpert (TPE)
Yeah I agree about Shumpert. I just think back to watching him with the Knicks and wishing he was on the blazers. He's been underutilized in Cleveland and agree that he'd be a good fit with Stotts. If the cavs sign Wade it's something we should explore. We could probably get him for a couple seconds.
Says the guy who's always bitching about needing to add vets to our roster... Dudley is an excellent 3-point shooter, a very solid defender, has on off the charts BBIQ (will likely be an NBA head coach some day) and is a great locker room guy who would be a perfect mentor and role model for our young players. So, of course you don't want him. BNM
No, even if we made that trade and waived all of our non- guaranteed contracts (Morrow, Goodwin and Briscoe) we'd still be somewhere around $600k over the threshold. BNM
We aren't getting anyone of significance. 12 mil doesn't get you the kind of player it used to. The luxury tax savings are probably more impactful.
For Paul maybe. Does Shumpert make us a better team? I don't think anyone is expecting an all star caliber player in return, but I'll take anyone that makes us better.
This. I get why BGD can't stand the dude, though. For what he is, he's a cocky, little shit-talker. But we need some of this swag and confidence on our team. He's definitely the type of role player you mostly hate if he's not on your team, like if he's on it.
He makes about the same as Harkless and is only locked up for two seasons. I don't think he's worse. He's better with the ball in his hands, and is a more consistent shooter and defender.
My guess is that Olshey and Allen hold on to the TPE until they get an idea of just how competitive this team will be in the re-loaded West. If they are one of those 'head barely above water' .500 teams by the time the playoffs come around, that are trending downward, I'll bet they pocket the savings and keep trying to get below the cap. If they are surprisingly competitive and in the mix for a 4th seed or higher, and they see a veteran that can push them up the ladder, I can see them trying to use it to add salary, but even then it's going to be a long-shot. It's just a hunch, but I'd give 10:1 odds they let it expire.
