Not EVERY team went wild in 2016. Many did... Portland was the most exuberant... but there were a few that showed restraint that summer
Woulda been fine if we at least threw some team options in there. 4 yrs, full guarantees just tie you down. Contracts become immovable the instant they're signed.
I’m of the opinion I hope he uses it even if it’s a player that doesn’t make me “excited” at least it’s something...
Lol he’s not using it for anything. I wish we had a GM who didn’t take the off in offseason literally.
If he uses it, and that's looking like a non-event, it had damn well better be for a player who has the potential to make the team significantly better. How can you hope he uses it just to do "something" and still have any room to complain about ET's or Meyers's contracts?
We don't need to add upon this cap crippling cluster bomb unless it is for a significant improvement as you suggested. I think it's obvious NO and PA wanted to get the team's salary under control a little more while with the bargain bin hunting they completed during the draft and FA period.
I understand, I just don’t want to hear how great an asset is and then see it go completely unused...
How else could you possibly interpret what he said? Did you honestly think he was going to force other teams to trade with us? Did you think he could read the future? Am I missing the promise to make a deal somewhere?
I hear what you're saying, and I've said previously that I think NO oversold the TPE as an asset. It was a tool that, in combination with the Blazers' first round pick COULD have brought back an experienced player. When that didn't happen, it just became a vehicle for teams to look to the Blazers as a dumping place for bad contracts.
Only way we use that tpe only if we have a trade all line up too. We already got 15 on the roster and you can't use tpe with a trade for others players.
