Quote:

With tomorrow's noon trade deadline bearing down, he amended Seattle's stance yesterday. "I think we're maybe a little more active because we have more assets than last year," Sund said. "Last year we had a situation where we pretty much were going with the youth route and Gary (Payton) was the only one of our players with any real value. "You look at our team now, and we have some young pieces. So there's a lot of dialogue going on around the league. I don't know if it's posturing for June or if it's anything substantial." Sund declined to discuss specific trade scenarios, but admitted the Sonics are not just listening as they were a year ago. The distinction is significant and it is safe to assume Seattle is proactive in trade talks, though not on the level of some teams. When asked how active he will be over the next day or so, Sund replied: "Very."
Full Story courtesy of the Seattle Times.

He spent the weekend in Los Angeles, attending All-Star events and hearing encouragement from figures all over the league. Barry and Radmanovic are the two most prominent names in the rumor mill, though Ronald Murray and Jerome James have also been mentioned. It's thought Barry and Radmanovic were offered to Atlanta as part of a proposal for Shareef Abdur-Rahim before the Hawks opted to trade him to the Blazers. It's thought the Sonics turned down Chicago's offer of Jamal Crawford and Marcus Fizer as part of a deal for Barry and Radmanovic, instead seeking Tyson Chandler or Eddy Curry. Barry will be a free agent at the end of the season, and negotiations have been ongoing to re-sign with the Sonics. Those discussions could determine whether Barry is traded.
Full Story courtesy of the Seattle PI.

Marshall to Seattle looks on shaky ground, with Toronto wanting a PF or C back. Unconfirmed rumour: Davis, Barry to TOR, Vlad and Mo to Portland, 2005 1st rounder from Toronto to Seattle, Marshall to Seattle.

less than 12 hours to go... Really looks like at least one deal will get done. Recent reports and confirmations have the Sonics fully capable of acquiring Donyell Marshall if they wish to. Barry and Radmanovic the likely bait. Orlando is enamored with Radmanovic for Howard ideas... Chicago has renewed and sweetened an offer of Fizer for brent Barry...No Confirmation on what else was onvolved but a draft choice or Jerome Williams were heavily rumored. Evidently Dallas has major interest in a Barry, Murray and James for Antoine Walker deal...we shall see. A Jerome James to Memphis for Swift, Battier or Outlaw possibility was told to a Sonics insider late yesterday...
I think Radmanovic and Barry can rack in some really good players for you. Two great offensive players plus some speed, unselfishness and passing ability from Barry. Like an unsooped up Mobley or like Snow but with offense. Those're two players you can get, they'd provide excellent defense to compensate for Ray Allen's lack of it since he dominates, rules and concentrates on offense. Dampier is available too.
Well the Sonics stay dormant... I would have liked to add Marshall or Swift but I can see why Rick Sund would hesitate to pull the trigger.
Good to see we didn't pull any desperation moves. Obviously the Raptors (and possibly the Grizz) were asking for something better than Barry or Radman, which probably isn't in our interests. Remember, we have Collison waiting in the wings...
Hopefully this may be an indication that re-signing Barry is a real possibility now. Either way, expect big changes in the summer. The excitement dies down, time to unstick this thread

^ That's quite reassuring seeing that, knowing that we didn't pull a move just for the sake of change. Changes will come in the summer, but for now we haven't been sucked into doing any moves that don't make total sense for the team.
