Dream: Wow, we are already living it!
Hope: Acquiring a draft pick for only cap space
Dread: Any trade that will affect the team’s chemistry

The next good opportunity to make adjustments to the roster will start AFTER the season is over.

    How do you know that?

Getting someone like Dwight Howard for plumlee+picks is an opportunity Olshey would be stupid not to at least explore. If that's on the table.

    Dream: Landing Paul George

Hope: Take a flyer on Howard for next to nothing

Dread: Paul Allen sells and the team moves to Kansas City

Let me tell you something that they say at Pineway Golf Course about Dwight Howard.
    Fuck Dwight Howard.

Why the F would you trade Plumlee for Howard? LOL

    Plumlee's stock ^
    Howards stock v

Beside Plumlee is already a beast. Howard isn't making half of the passes Plumlee makes. Dude is an absolutely perfect fit in our system. Hustle, athleticism, looks to make the extra pass, and extremely dangerous on the roll.

Howard is better in the paint and a better back down defender but that is where it ends.

Howard is a better defender (help and man), better P&R player, a better rebounder, and a better scorer. The only thing Plumlee does better is pass but with Howard teams wouldn't hedge the guards as much so he would make the offense that much more dangerous.

Plumlee is ranked in the bottom half of the league in post defense. I like him, but he's nowhere near Dwight's level, no matter how much you hate Dwight.

Howard plans to opt out at the end of this season. He will only be a rental for the playoffs, if we make the playoffs with him. (Remember the chemistry issues with the Lakers and Rockets?)

Your trade will make the Blazers weaker next season, and causes chemistry problems for the playoffs, if they still make the playoffs with Howard. How is your trade idea an opportunity?

Even if Olshey made your dream trade for Howard and Howard wants to re-sign here next summer, your trade still could hurt the team. Reason, Olshey may need to offer the 5 year max to keep him.

I would rather wait until next summer to sign FA Howard to a 4 year max deal (the most we could under the CBA without bird rights), plus keep Plumlee and the picks. Now we have a better team. We keep our assets and have a FA that wants to play here, not one that was forced here by trade and looking ahead for his next team.

Sure, I'd rather sign him in FA too, I'm not in a hurry to acquire him, but I still think it's an opportunity to buy low on a player. As for chemistry, my personal opinion is that he will fit in without a problem.

For the record, if were talking FA, I'd rather have H. Barnes. I'm ok with Plumlee as our center going forward. Doesn't mean I wouldn't take a chance at an upgrade though.

Agree, this summer we will have a clearer picture of our team’s needs and holes that need to be filled, plus, which FAs would be the best fit.

OK, you talked me into it. Next summer will be the next good opportunity to make adjustments to our roster.

And Houston cuts us out of that trade immediately and takes Cousins for themselves.

Maybe, but their salaries are off by $6.5 mil so a straight across trade wouldn't work.

Gimme a break about a sense of loyalty. What "sense of loyalty" has Plumlee shown? I'm not at all trying to pick on him, but he's never been a free agent before. He has no choice in the loyalty matter. Does anyone that leaves as a free agent mean they show no loyalty? It's a business. If Plumlee can get shipped after 2 years in Brooklyn, with no concern ofloyalty, I'm sure he can go to the highest bidder when free agency comes about. Did Neil show no loyalty to Barton and TRob, to Rolo and Wesley, to Nico? People expect these athletes to show loyalty, but it's their job, we're the fans.

Adding Caspi on Sacramento side makes it work. I just don't see Sacrmaneto at all trading COusins for Howard, and for Houston not wanting Cousins back over Plumlee. It's just basically a non-starter.

Man fuck this I'm going to defend Howard. He was the scapegoat in LA and now he's the scapegoat in Houston. Kobe and Harden are ball hogging assholes nobody likes to play with, but since they're superstar face of the franchise players nobody dares call them out on it. Much easier to blame it on soft ass Dwight.
