That is an apples to oranges comparison. The Kings haven't made the playoffs since Rick Adelman. It would be a big deal for them as a younger, growing team to make the Playoffs for the first time in eons. For the Blazers, they made the Playoffs plenty and in most cases were swept out or gentleman swept out over and over again. It's not working and they need more talent. They don't get it via Free Agency and don't/won't make trades to make that happen. So that leaves the Draft and the majority of great players are picked higher in the Lottery. No one likes to lose, but if it gives you the opportunity to do something you haven't come close to doing in decades, you take the chance. Otherwise, there is this very tired, mediocre identity to this team.
Then, given the above parameters, which haven't changed in decades..... .....mediocrity, they name is Lawnmower Man.
Yeah, but with Grant there wasn't anyone else with space to take his salary. The Blazers didn't have competition on that one.
Way too expensive (we'd have to trade Nurkic and Hart just to get him) and way too old and injury prone.
I wonder if Joe could be trying to get a 3way deal going that would land us Siakam? Would the Raptors have interest in an expiring Kevin Love?
The fact that he’s old and injury prone and would STILL be our best big reminds us of our current situation. At some point you gotta’ start making moves.
