July 3rd- Heyman noted that Happ is "at or near the top" of the Yanks' wish list, and added that they may be the top suitor for his services. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...rs-new-york-main-player-for-blue-jays-ja-happ
I think Happ would be a decent pickup but as someone else pointed out, if we can't acquire another ace, why bother?
To me its Degrom or pretty much bust on the pitchers. Will cost a lot of assets but yanks can afford it as a lot of excess with jobs blocked at the major league level and plenty of prospects in high A and double A that will need to be protected from the rule 5 draft. Figure it out and go get him cash. And degrom is the only pitcher that I'm putting frazier in a deal for, If no degrom keep frazier till next year and he's the LF when hardy not resigned. And more free agent food for thought. No room for harper in OF for next year but he has been working out at first for the nationals. If bird continues to get hurt and suck harper might be a possibility in free agency at first base.
Seems to me Harper has a spoiled little boy pompous attitude. I don't think His chemistry would fit on this team well. Ntm- word has it he'll be looking for 40 million a year, way too pricey for the Yanks
any position. I agree that someone like Degrom/Thor should be the main focus...but I don't see Frazier as ever being able to be a regular OFer with Judge, Hicks, and Stanton already penciled in for the foreseeable future...and personally, I don't want Harper in pinstripes at any position. ...I think both Frazier and/or Andujar might be dealt. You can add, Ellsbury, Drury, Shreve, Gray, Walker, Florial, Sheffield, Abrieu, and Gardner to the list.
I saw that on several news feeds this morn... https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/...s-could-fit-mike-moustakas-into-their-lineup/
Someone please explain to me why the Yanx would want to rent Machado for 2 1/2 months? https://nypost.com/2018/07/09/yankees-may-be-preparing-to-move-on-manny-machado/ Blake Snell ? https://bleacherreport.com/articles...trade-that-could-win-yankees-the-world-series Eovaldi?....again? https://www.nj.com/yankees/index.ssf/2018/07/mlb_trade_rumors_yankees_scouting_rays_nathan_eova.html Sanchez update; http://bronxpinstripes.com/news-rumors/yankees-injury-update-gary-sanchez/
^^^^ .... Regardless of machado's numbers versus Boston the Yanks do not need him. There Is No Vacancy anymore in our infield....
An interesting article or not, on Andujar, being expendable in trade. I don't quite comprehend the criteria this guy's using to determine "Range". Ntm- the author contradicts himself, as to keep or trade... -meh!!! Overall I don't really agree with this article, other than to say: Keep Andujar until he proves otherwise... http://riveraveblues.com/2018/07/th...guel-andujar-available-trade-deadline-174411/
Yankees unwilling to trade these youngsters for Manny Machado https://nypost.com/2018/07/14/yanke...-manny-machado/amp/?__twitter_impression=true
This only way I could justify acquiring Machado and letting Andujar go, is if; 1. The Yanx are certain they can sign Machado long term. AND; 2. In addition to Machado, the Yanx also add a front end starter. (DeGrom or Bumgarner would be nice)
I had a discussion yesterday with a long time MLB insider who asked me the following: "Who can the Yankees get (pitcher) that will be a better #2 or even #3 than anything the Astros will have at those spots?" His position was, that the Yankees won't be able to get someone who matches up with a Gerrit Cole or Morton/McCullers (assuming Verlander is #1) so why trade assets to get someone who is going to be a big underdog in those games anyhow? He thinks it would be much better to go with what you have and hope Sonny Gray can figure it out as he has better stuff than anyone they might acquire. He also thinks they pick up Patrick Corbin in the off-season anyhow and still keep their assets. Now if they can pick up someone on the cheap that will shore up the back end of their rotation to try and get a couple more wins to stay out of the Wild Card game, then fine. But there just isn't that #2 starter out there that is available without mortgaging some of the jewels of the current roster or farm system...which the Yankees don't seem willing to trade anyhow. He did say that the Yankees have pieces they can move to upgrade....just that what is available likely isn't going to do them that much good. FWIW....
Watching yesterdays game I herd A.J. Pierzynski state that the Yankees were well stacked infield and outfield wise, why give up quality players under control. Yankees need a solid pitcher to go into the rotation more so than a rental whom you may not be able to resign.
Yanx have completely let Bauer off the hook (Andujar 1st pitch hacking didn't help)...wouldn't be surprised to see him again come out for the next inning...we should run Bauer our after 3-4 innings. ...do not have a good feeling about this game.
If the Yanx can in fact sign another #1 or #2, that would do them more good than just acquiring Machado alone...but next year the Yanx will have enough cash that do one will out bid them on Machado if they wanna resign him.
