Jabari Parker’s target return date is the week before the all star break. That’s pretty convenient considering that’s right before the trade deadline as well. I still think he should be our main target.
There are too many factors for there not be activity with Portland. I guess disappointment depends on your expectation. I’m not expecting Neil to blow it up in the next month, but I do expect at least two players to be moved. Getting under the tax will definitely be a priority.
I’m gonna say that Mirotic ends up in OKC. Carmelo and PG3 were not rumored to go there and suddenly did, so I’m calling it first.
Awful idea. Pay an injury prone F who doesn't defend and has only shown he can score on a high level for a half of a season before his 2nd ACL tear...
Parker was well on his way to being a star in this league last year. If you can sign him for cheap because of his injury history and he plays to or above the level he did last year it could be one of the best deals in the league. Remember, Westbrook has had three knee surgeries and Curry has had over 3 surgeries on his right ankle alone.
I'd do the same. HIGH risk, though. But taking this kinda risk is the only way we move up. Or else, we're stuck in this purgatory
But where do you play him? He's likely better at PF, but is an awful rebounder there. He's somewhat of a ball stopper and is a poor defender no matter what position he's guarding. He was putting up 20ppg, but his 36% from 3 over those 50 games could likely be a fluke compared to his 3pt shooting percentages from years past (25%). For a star player he doesn't get to the FT line much either. I think that the season he had is the best case scenario, which (combined with his injury risk and history) would make him barely worth a max contract (which he'll probably get offered). It's likely he's worse than that, and while he's still young I'm afraid that he'll be injured too much to be able to consistently improve.
Granted, if he got traded here I'd get myself excited due to the Blazers taking a chance on a player that'd likely be fun to watch, and my attitude would turn into "Ok, lets go. Let's see how this works out!", however, I still think it'd be a move that would likely fail or hurt us in the future.
I watched the Bulls highlights last night and Zach Levine was balling....beautiful shot from deep and finished at the rim strong....I'd love to trade Mo for him
This is how I see it. Is it risky? Yup. But is there also a high reward? Yup. It’s the only guy out there that’s theoretically available that has the potential to be a legit third piece. Guys like Mirotic are more complimentary pieces. And as long as it doesn’t cost us one of our “big three,” the risk is worth it. Also, we wouldn’t HAVE to pay him. If we do, he earned it.
