Well how many max free agents can they afford and then what do they have after that? Two super stars can't save a team that is that gutted especially if they don't sign lee again.

That it will. With that coach, and no competition at PG - this is the best biggest chance Sergio could possibly dream of. I hope he makes the most of it.

That is what I have been saying all along. Why would any of the free agents leave their current "bad" situation for the Knicks, when the Knicks are totally fucked? That makes no sense. They will get a max deal wherever they likely land. So they might as well land on a team worth a shit.

Lets say they get Lebron and Bosh and Keep Lee....

Does it really matter who else is on the team??? Three all stars

Not as nice as a shot for LBJ AND Wade. Or Bosh. Or Joe Johnson.

I am glad Sergio is getting a shot with the one team/system I think he has a small chance to succeed in. Good luck to him there.

Choosing Hill over Jennings or even, DeRozan. Brilliant.

Looks to me like New York gave up Jordan Hill, the 2012 draft pick and the swap on the 2011 just to get Jared Jeffries off the books, since if they really wanted McGrady, they could have just waited for him to be a free agent.

This will enable them to resign Lee AND sign at least one new major free agent, maybe two, I don't know the numbers. So maybe it was worth it.

Houston sure got a lot more out of their expiring than Blazers got from RLEC. I think you really have to plan ahead on these expirings, in some years they will be valuable and other years worth very little. A year from now we will have two goodsized expirings (Przbilla and Miller if we don't exercize); wonder if it will be another bad year?

That's exactly it (the Two Superstar model). Anything McGrady gives them is gravy. They might even just buy him out to let him go somewhere else. But getting an extra 7M or so off the books is a huge deal. If someone would've taken Curry (like I'd been advocating :) ) could you imagine what you could've hauled in?

Uh, you mean, a lot more than zero? Don't forget Blake and Outlaw last year...there could've been an extra 25M in contracts coming back to us, or an extra 8M in FA period. But most will say that there was no one worth it. Which seems similar to what the 2011 class will look like.
    Probably. :dunno:

WojYahooNBA Indiana-Charlotte discussions broad, sources say: Talks included Ford and Rush for Augustine, Nazr and Gerald Henderson. Not yet imminent.

Man what a trade deadline this was.

As a fan I wish they were all like this. But this year was different. With a new CBA coming into play, with a slow economy and NBA franchises hurting, with the largest free agent class ever this summer, with Lebron Wade Amare and Bosh being free agents . . . I'm not surprised with all this activity.

It reminds me of my fantasy basketball league . . .

I'm going to laugh and laugh hard if the three mentioned just say "Nah...I'll stay here this year and use my ETO next year, when Portland has Roy and LMA available for S&Ts and around 15M in expiring contracts."

tough to do. Can't mix Camby up with any others...

LMA, Przy, Rudy works. Also has the great benefit of making us players this offseason when our only PF/Cs are Pendergraph and Oden.

Przy, LMA, Rudy? I don't even know if we have enough salary to get Amare.
