If we can build up our starting 5 to be the best in the league then the bench doesn't matter as much and we can fill it in later. It is so hard to get top level players, if we have to give up several other guys for a guy as skilled as Noah I think you have to do it. There will always be vets chasing rings and journeymen looking for their next team that can fill in the bench over the summer. Call me crazy but give me Dame, Wes, Batum, LMA and Noah and I'll go to war with anyone in the NBA. We can figure the rest out later.
Well I think Noah would be a beast the Bulls would want a lot. A deal like this http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=mdp4x8c plus at least one first round pick would be needed maybe two.
Noah's contract expires the exact same time as LMA's, and he'll also be a UFA. Even if LMA is extended this summer, Noah is still going to want to test the open market, and the only plus the Blazers would have is to pay him more money for more years. At best, the contract situation would handcuff the team. At worst, Noah leaves for nothing, and the Blazers have Mike Fucking James as a back-up PG. All that work for a shitty idea. Thanks for starting a thread on it, though. I do appreciate the posters who write about any asinine idea that farts out of their brain, because this board is all about entertainment.
Yes, thanks. Ponder is confusing the salary cap limit with the luxury tax limit. The basic principle is teams under the salary cap have no salary matching requirements. Teams above the salary cap but below the luxury tax limits must to take back less than 150% (we are in this boat). Teams above the luxury tax limit must take back less than 125%.
We're giving up too much, IMO. Plus, the only bigs we have behind Noah are Freeland (who will also play the 4 since Trob is also out) and Leonard. Or play Leonard and Freeland together.... our starting 5 is good, but our starting 5 now is good... Not saying Lopez is better than Noah... but it's not an astronomical leap. I would much rather want CJ and his upside than Butler. And I like Butler.
All that typing for an arrogant shitty response, I think you also forgot must have forgot this forum is about acting superior and tearing down others as well as entertainment and if it is not then stop acting that way.
I tore down a stupid idea that has no basis in reality. I hope it came across as harsh as well as arrogant. Look at that trade again. Basically giving up the entire bench for a guy who is a free agent in 2015 and a bunch of scrubs. It's a terrible idea, and I'd be embarrassed if I posted it on this board.
The first part of the response is just fine the next part is not needed and undermines your entire argument. If you need to insult the poster at least wait until they go first, which usually happens when you destroy their idea.
1. I will be shocked if 41 year old Mike James is in the league in the 15-16 season to serve as our backup PG 2. I wanted to cut him after the trade and go after one of the FA point guards. At least read the whole post before insulting it While Noah leaving would be a threat why would he if we were competing for the title? He wants to win
First of all I'm the only one who is allowed to come across as harsh and arrogant. Please, I've never been a fan of the ESPN trade machine posts but can you go easy on the rookies? You just gutted and mounted him on your wall.
Y'all are crazy. Personally I've all for any trade that would decimate our bench and give us a 2nd unit in which Marquis Teague, Nazr and Murphy are featured. What's not to like? #I'mastupidfuckingidiot
LoL If Chicago wouldn't even agree and you still say no thanks? I have to question if you really want a championship because to me it sounds like your falling in love with some of the Blazers players.
