Jerami for Lonzo Ball, 3.5M in filler salary, Chicago's 2024 first assuming they don't move up and our pick coming back to us.
If they'd do it that's not a bad win now move for us but I don't think we're giving up enough. We would really need to move Ant at that point for a starting caliber PF. Trae, Matisse, Jerami, PF for Ant, Deandre, Shaedon, Malcolm, if Rob Williams is healthy and whoever of the young forwards earns a spot in that rotation (Tou, Bari, Kris) would be a playoff team. I really hope we don't do any win now moves because we'd only be setting ourselves up to be a first round and out team again but if that's what we're going for this would be a helluva trade.
It's a good starting point for the trade framework. We'd probably have to sweeten the pot a little more (future 1st?, 2nd's + add in salary filler). Would be a great way to short-circuit the rebuild and have something cookin' next year. Don't forget we'd be keeping our #1 in this scenario. Adding in Sarr or Rissacher into this core would be awesome. Great mix of young talent, our current Vets, and Trae leading the way.
I'd like to see Brogdon, Grant, and Timelord all dealt. I'd also like to see Simons go, but I'm not convinced that will happen.
I even think Tisse could be a good piece to see dealt, he's a win now piece that I think would add more value to a win-now team than our team. I'm with you on everyone on your list. I'm really hoping they move Ant too but you're probably right about him.
How many did we trade prior off-season (2022?). I'd probably think 0 is more likely than any single number.
Timelord and Thybulle have negative value - would be shocked if either is dealt. Also would be shocked if Blazers trade Ant, they didn't get to see much of him with Sharpe/Scoot. I'd think Brogdon/Grant yes might have a chance - but it's hard to tell if this franchise will commit fully to rebuilding or continue this odd veteran fence straddling. You'd think attaining 21 wins and dead last in the conference would make that choice for them - but they often are pretty stubborn.
Wouldn't make sense to trade Scoot for him, we'd still have a short backcourt. Perhaps trade Grant for Trae though, then Ant could slide to SF!
I don't think Tisse has negative value. One of the most disruptive defenders in the league and he's someone you can't just leave open from three. At only 11M a season I think he could easily be moved... I don't know if he'd fetch a FRP without us including a second but I'd be shocked if he isn't valued around the league. The only thing you really have to know is that he played just as well this season as he did last season and we had to match an offer sheet on the guy.
I found it really interesting that Joe didn't mention Jerami, Tisse or Malcolm in his exit interview. I honestly feel like Joe has a similar situation to the one he had with Jerami when we acquired him. I think he likely has some deals already agreed to for the offseason that couldn't get done at the deadline for salary reasons. We'll just have to wait and see.
The Blazers need to do a very slight shuffle of the deck. With a pack of new rookies en route, and the luxury tax threshold exceeded, i expect 1 or 2 guys traded for financial liquidity, oh sorry.. for cap flexibity. Then a few players need to get cut for new rookie roster spots. Cody Willams is going to be a Blazer. It only makes sense to trade Jerami for picks and expirings. But i'll leave the GM ideas to my fellow Blazer fans.
Here we go: Simons to the Magic for Wendell Carter and Jalen Suggs, plus 2 picks. One from the Magic and probably the Nuggets 2025 pick. Why do the Magic do it? They need Simons' scoring in the backcourt. He'd make a great partner with Banchero. 2 picks might be steep. Brogdon to the Bulls for Ball and our pick back. Why do the Bulls do it? This depends on whether they blow it up this summer. If they move LaVine and DeRozan, there's no point getting Brogdon. I don't have a good grasp on Ball's value right now. Is he healthy? Will he ever return? Grant and Warriors pick to the Kings for Barnes and Keegan Murray. Why do the Kings do it? They're on the cusp of being good, and Sabonis isn't getting any younger. They add Grant to Sabonis and Fox. Scoot Sharpe Keegan Sarr? (other rookie?) Ayton Bench Ball (if he plays) Suggs Camara Walker WCJ Still trying to find a home for Timelord.
Grant and #14 this year to Sac for Barnes, Hueter and a 2026 1st round pick Brogdon to Philly for a 2025 1st round pick Simons to Brooklyn for Finney-Smith, Schroder and 2027 1st round pick (from Philly) Williams to Memphis for 2 second round picks
A lot will depend on where the lottery balls bounce, obviously. Have seen a lot of speculation about Trae Young to San Antonio. I'd try to sell them on Anfernee, for a cheaper price than they'd have to pay for Young. Both in draft capital and in overall $$. Something like Simons and GS pick for SA pick +. Grant to Sacramento for Barnes, Huerter, and their pick. Move Barnes and Huerter wherever we can. Take SA pick and Sac pick to try to move to 2 or 3, depending on where we are at?
