I like Vucevic but IMO he doesn't work next to Nurkic (despite his ability to stretch the floor he would be lacking on defense) and he is too good to be playing 15-20 minutes a night if we intend to give Nurkic the starting role (which we should). It'd be nice to have a back up this good but I don't think he'd be happy here, there are teams around the league that would start him.
Probably right. We must get some alternatives in our backcourt, relying on Napier and Connaughton to provide us with bench minutes will not take us far. Preferably I'd like a reliable point guard and somebody who can play both as a shooting guard and as small forward. Unfortunately we don't have enough pieces to land Khris Middleton, he'd be absolutely immense here.
The price Milwaukee pay here is too steep. The only really valuable piece they get back is Irving and they have to send out Middleton (a very good 2/3 combo), Parker (no. 2 overall pick who was great last season before injury) and two first round picks. That's too much. Thinking about Irving I think three destinations make sense: Milwaukee in exchange for Parker and additional pieces, Minnesota in exchange for Wiggins and a salary filler, Phoenix in exchange for Bledsoe and another player (Warren and Bender would be offered first, adding Jackson or Chriss would be too much IMO). I think a trade will happen in the next 3 weeks and it will be for one of these packages. I think Bledsoe and TJ Warren.
Yeah a bit, but who knows... maybe the cap raises a few mil and we break even? But for all we know salary doesn't matter and we plan on adding a decent player with our TPE still?
I wonder if it would be possible for us to split our TPE to use on Belinelli in Atlanta and Crowder in Boston, then in a separate deal send PattyC+2018 first rounder to Boston for some scrub as a "wink wink nudge nudge" compensation?
You can do that, but why would Boston trade Crowder for part of a TPE, Connaughton and a first rounder? The pick is the only worthwhile asset there and Crowder is worth a lot more than a non-premium first round pick.
It's just an idea I mean I assume Boston wants to cut salary and I thought giving them relief+non guaranteed contract and a pick would be a decent get for a team that is reasonably stacked. You're right though it's a pipe dream because Crowder is a good player and Ainge isn't easy to deal with. I'd still be happy with getting Belinelli though, don't think he really has much of a future in ATL.
I don't think Boston is in cost-cutting mode now, as they cleared the salary they needed to in order to sign Hayward. Possibly next season they will be when they have to pay Isaiah Thomas. But you can structure deals like that, so there are creative ways to play with the TPE. Belinelli would make a good Crabbe replacement--he's no longer as good a shooter as he used to be, but he's a ton cheaper.
It'll be interesting to watch the Crowder situation unfold. I don't think he will be very happy with his role in Boston this coming season.
I'd prefer to trade Davis, Leonard, and a future 2nd to whoever would take it because then we could use pretty much the full TPE without hitting the tax.
Who knows. I think they'll trade a bucketload of assets for A.D then trade Hayward for Lebron, who will opt-in & trade much like CP3s deal this year. Could clear more minutes for Crowder.
Lmao. I wouldn't blame Ainge though. Depending on what CLE gets for Kyrie, they could still be competitive.
The best, realistic, and maybe available targets in my opinion are: Kevin Love, Carmelo Anthony, Wilson Chandler, Marvin Williams, Tobias Harris, Jahlil Okafor, Reggie Jackson, Trevor Ariza, John Henson, Justice Winslow, Jabari Parker, Danny Green. For the right price I wouldn't mind trading for any of those players. Option A would be Kevin Love, option B Carmelo, and option C either Tobias Harris, Danny Green, or Wilson Chandler. Option C players I think could be had without gutting the roster or giving up pics.
I remain interested in either Courtney Lee and or O'quinn from Knicks. Lee has 3 yrs left at 11 mil per is a good shooter and much better defender than Crabbe, O'quinn only gets pd 4 mil per and will likely opt out after next season. I'd do Hark and Meyers for Lee and O'quinn, saves about 5 mil next season and I'd love to get Crowder but with his good play and great contract he won't be cheap, Bos needs bigs so maybe a 3-way with Vuc or R Lopez going to Bos, Crowder here, and we send player and or picks to another team like Chi or Orl
