Folks are selling low. I think we should keep Vonleh. He's already a better defender than Collins or Swanigan. Also, I think he knows his days could be numbered. We'll see how much fire he plays with this season.
sorry but I disagree. as far as really shooting the rock , he shot less than 30% from three and the small sample size dismissal would be countered by the fact that he averaged over 2 attempts per game in his 65 games played last year. harkless was under utilized by Jacques Vaughn, henzoenja has played for both scott skiles and frank vogel. can't equate his usage to moe's. edit _ meant to include Noah's per/36's of 9pts. / 11 rebs. this season
He shot it pretty well his rookie year and definitely did not play well last year. His rookie year if were allowed to use per36 #'s he was 12/5/3 shooting 35% from 3 and 50% from inside the arc. Those are encouraging numbers for a rookie. ~16 mpg isnt exactly getting a ton of playing time either. I am fairly certain that's less than Noah got in Charlotte. Just sayin he's probably a better prospect than Jake Layman and has more basketball talent than I've seen from Noah and I wanted very badly to see Vonleh succeed. I don't think we make this trade for non basketball reasons but on the court it makes sense. Do a little research go and watch his Draft Express video it might change your mind a little, he was a top 5 pick for good reason.
No, it was his rookie year (2 seasons ago) his second season was last season where he shot 30% 3p 42%2pt played less minutes and generally had a bad attitude. I think this could be a similar situation that we snagged Nurk out of. He had 3 coaches in 2 years and none of them seemed to want to play him, he is a lot better than he has shown, given how he played for Barcelona and the numbers he was putting up there as a teenager. I dont know where vonleh fits on this team, because I really like Swanigan and I am on the record saying Collins will start at the 4 some time next year. I just feel like we need to get better on the wing, and expecting Jake Layman to blossom into something is a fools errand imo to me that means we should look to take flyer on a guy like Hezonja. If it costs Vonleh so be it.
Harkless+Davis for Tobias Harris Not sure I'd love it, but feels like a potential deadline deal if both teams disappoint.
Who said anything about a big splash? It's a re-shuffle of the deck in all likelihood--Harris is a questionable offensive and defensive fit--but just thought it was a plausible move.
I just think that's what the Blazers are looking to do now. Dame & CJ are ready to contend and there tweets show it. And before you go off on who's the GM let me remind you that it's a players league.
Hey man, I'm all for making a move that moves us up a tier (right now I see our ceiling being the #5 seed), but there's just not a lot of those kind of moves out there besides maybe Melo at this point.
If AD is available I'm putting CJ on the table immediately (along with picks of course) Imagine a Nurk/Davis front line.
Love was the other guy I was thinking about but unless we are giving up one of the core 3 for him, I don't think there's a deal there that makes sense for both teams until next summer at the earliest. And even then I presume there will be better offers out there for him than we'll be willing make. AD would be awesome but there is no way we will be able outbid Boston.
It's not about any one player. They have a metric SHIT TON of draft picks that all project to be high lottery. If the Pels were dumping Davis, it would be to start over, from scratch. The Celtics could offer a combination of players and lottery picks that virtually no other team could match. Also, as good as CJ is, he's not a top 10 player like Davis, so it's still not a 1 to 1 trade in terms of talent. They're probably better off taking the bounty of high lotto picks and trying to draft another player on Davis' level.
Because you can't build a team around CJ? I find it hard to believe that any team would value a hypothetical over a sure thing, otherwise you would see more draft picks traded for stars straight up.
