Especially when he not even starting I would maybe give a 2nd rounder

Two potential lottery picks for CJ, although it doesn't really save us much money until the summer of 2020:

Pelicans get Andre Drummond, Langston Galloway, and Caleb Swanigan (via Trade Exception)

Pistons get CJ McCollum, Julius Randle, Solomon Hill, and Nik Stauskas

Blazers get Reggie Jackson, Luke Kennard, Wesley Johnson (expiring), 2019 1st from Detroit, and 2019 1st from New Orleans

It sucks to get saddled with Reggie Jackson but having 3 1st round picks again this summer with all of them probably ending up better than the 3 we had in 2017 would be the reason for doing a move like this. Currently Detroit's pick is tied for 9th, New Orleans' pick is 11th, and our pick is #22. Maybe a 3rd team would think Reggie would still be an okay asset? Orlando maybe?

Do you think the Pelicans would want that many AD’s?

Ha, who knows. They are desperate to keep the one they have so pairing him with a true center like Drummond might be good for them.

he has always been a starter, he is just coming back from injury. Not sure why Atlanta would give up Prince who is locked for another year with just 3.5M for anything less than a 1st round pick. They can find somebody better at pick 40 or 50? Or they are that desperate because he is ruining their winning chances?

Yeah exactly . They may as well keep him, he's definitely not a terrible player.

But usually when a player that was starting and come back from injury they usually get starting position back this didn't happen with Prince. It might be he on minutes restrictions or they just like better. Now Prince can be a good team mate and accepted his reduce role and I hope that the case or he can start not liking his minutes reduction. But if I was a GM seeing you can't come back your starting position back on bad team I be dame that I give you a 1st for him. I like him as a player and I wouldn't mind get him but I don't know how big upgrade that he is over Layman and Harkless.

Outside of more consistent shooting, I’m not sure he is an upgrade. But consistent shooting is a pretty big thing, and I think there’s room for all three in the rotation.

Blake Griffin is playing too well for Detroit to dump. Putting up 26-8-5 on 48% FG and 36% from 3 this year. Just nuts.

His stats these past five games are even crazier. 33-7-5 on 51% FG

The only problem is that his play isn't translating into making the playoffs in a conference where the 8th seed is currently 22-24.

Still, the optics can't be easy for ownership to sell to their fans if they give him up for a dump and picks. Blake is playing at an all nba level this year. Too bad his team is so horrible.

It's crazy to me to think that Blake is playing as well as he is and still is clearly third in his own conference among forwards.

    {I know this isn't going to happen}

I spoke to some fans of the other teams in my Blazers-Pistons-Pelicans trade and decided to simplify it. It seems worse for us but I'll get to why it may not be at the end.

    http://tradenba.com/trades/HkTCr5XmE

    Pistons get CJ and Randle

Pelicans get Drummond and Nik Stauskas (via Trade Exception)

Blazers get Solomon Hill, Reggie Bullock, 2019 NO 1st, 2019 Det 1st, 2019 Det 2nd

Bullock would slide into CJ's spot in our starting lineup which I think is an okay stopgap. The picks we'd get are currently 9th (tie), 11th, and 39th plus we'd still own our own 1st which is currently 22nd. This would put us well below the tax line, allowing us not to worry about the financial costs of adding buyout players, and would generate a $12.5 Million trade exception that we'd have a year to use. Obviously this whole trade would come down to how we used the picks and financial benefits of the trade. This isn't the type of move the Blazers would make though.

Much rather simplify it even further, send the Pistons CJ/Randle for Blake/Bullock, and send Zach+?? to NOP. But I'm just being silly here.

Yeah, I was going off the assumption that their owner would be looking to build around Blake not trade him away.

Detroit fans really want Drummond gone.

Even if, though--Blake and Randle playing together? Doesn't seem like a fit.

I got the idea from Detroit fans discussing trading Drummond to the Pelicans. Some of them thought they could actually get Holiday for Drummond. When that got shut down they settled on Randle, Hill and Wesley Johnson. Since I had discussed CJ trades with some of the same people so I threw out some 3 team suggestions that meant they still got a lead guard (which is why they wanted Holiday).

Yeah, just not a fan, personally. I know we can fall off quickly, and all the teams are tight, but when have we ever seen a 4th seed sell off their 2nd best player, or 2nd best scorer, 3rd best player, for some picks? Especially when they're not an old team. And he's not an old player. I'm all for moving CJ if we can find the right fit for US. But selling Dame on hey, we're the 4th seed currently, playing decent, and we're going to throw away, for the most part, this season to get a couple of draft picks. Especially when, as has been mentioned, are 3 most recent draft picks are abunch of 19 year olds.

Oh I completely agree, that is why I specifically said twice that it wouldn't happen and that the Blazers wouldn't do it.
