I never ever want to use a pick to make up for previous contract mistakes. It's especially true this year when the value of #25 is so low.

I didn't say they couldn't do that, in fact I said they could do just that. What they won't be able to do is completely dump ET's salary for nothing coming back by including the pick.

Lol, I'd say you have no idea how much I want ET to not be a Blazer anymore, but I think most Blazer fans feel the way I do.
They could probably "shed" some salary in that trade though by bringing in someone on a contract worth 10m a year or something like that.

Makes no sense to use an asset to dump ET on the last year of his contract. Opening up full MLE not worth a pick to me, especially if all we'll get in in return is Rodney Hood.

So are you saying that they guy we could get at #25 would be more valuable than Rodney Hood? Maybe we can get them both but what if we knew for sure that we couldn't get Hood unless we got rid of one of those contracts?

    Turner/25 for Nemanja Bjelica

Saves 10 million this year and Bjelica is a replacement for Aminu.

Do NOT trade the pick. We must focus on building a competitive Summer League team.

Would you do that if you were the Kings? They would be given up over 11 mil of cap space for a #25 pick in a weak draft?

In my estimation, a cost controlled 2.5 mil player for next three years + ET's expiring contract > Hood on a 3 yrs ~30 mil contract.

I’d use the pick to open up the full MLE for Hood 100%. What are the odds that the guy we’d draft there would develop into a better player than Hood?

ET is on an expiring deal. I like Hood, but not at the cost of just giving up an asset ( no matter how shitty the draft might be).

So you’re essentially saying you’d rather have a late first than Rodney Hood for the next four years (age 27-30 seasons aka his prime?)

While getting under the tax next year, yes.

There will be better players to be had for the full MLE in years forward as well.

There will also be more teams with money next summer, so there will be a bigger market for those players as well.

Apparently there is a rumor circulating (all obvious caveats apply) that OKC is looking to move the 21st pick in a tax relief deal.

I have 2 conflicting responses to this story. The first is that it tends to confirm the belief that this draft kinda sucks. If the 21st pick isn't worth keeping, the 25th certainly isn't! The second is to find out what their asking price is. What's it worth to double our odds of finding a useful player?

Don't overvalue Hood based on a good series. He also had an average and a terrible one during the same playoff run. He will never find 30M for 3 years out there. All he could find last year was the QO and he didn't do that much better this year, he probably did worse overall.

We wouldn't have won against Denver without Hood. With our garbage Wings, (Harkless, Turner, Aminu?) we desperately need wings who can create their own shot and hit 3s. We can not waste more time of Lillards Prime anymore

Huh? How would we provide salary relief?
