All the AD chatter has got me all in on the idea of using our expirings (and #25) to move up in the draft (while also upgrading the current rotation)

Charlotte and Minnesota are both prime targets at the back end of the lottery. Both have contracts I’m sure they’d love to dump (Batum, Dieng, Wiggins)

There are some other possibilities as well. Would Miami swap their pick if it meant dumping James Johnson? What about Orlando and Fournier?

I'd rather have Olynyk and Richardson

That would cost a lot more than we are willing to give.

Only way spurs did that was if pop retired. I don’t think that’s happening. Don’t think they’ll make any moves. They’re going to be good with Murray back.

Honestly I don’t even give a fuck who we get, just use an expiring to improve the rotation and possibly get a higher draft pick.Worst thing that can happen is if Olshey sits on his ass, selects at 25,and goes into free agency with a tax MLE. Draft night is our night.

I bet Boston would like to dump Hayward especially since they seem committed to Tatum and Brown. Turner was good in their system. Give em Evan, one of Moe/Leonard, and our pick.

    Saying this for years
I don't think this is a draft you move up in. I said somewhere else I don't think you can have a "huge bust" picking at 25. I do think you can have a huge bust picking at 10. And I think, in this draft, there are a lot of guys going in the lottery who are going to disappoint people -- not because they won't be good players with decent careers, but because the guy going fourth, fifth or sixth might not be as excellent as they guys going in those rounds in a typical year. On the other hand, I see guys being mocked into the mid-second round who I think are going to be good pro players with decent careers.

If you are trading that pick other than with the intention of clearing cap space or acquiring more value a little lower, I think you are using it to get a Seth Curry level veteran contributor for next year's team. Or maybe you can use it to help acquire something bigger yet under-the-radar helping facilitate and multi-player trade.

Don't take Hayward unless you get Brown in the deal. Gordon lost his first step and 90% of his effectiveness with it.

He was very underrated last season.

    Per 36: 15.9 pts, 6.2 reb, 4.7 ast, 57.5 TS%.

I expect him to improve beyond that, which would put him back at a near all-star level player. If Portland has the chance to acquire him, they need to push hard for it.

I feel like Hayward isn't available though.

Not with Kyrie all but gone. They will need his offense.

Per 36 stats for a dude on a max contract? When you are making 30 million, you need to produce at a high level without projections. Watching him vs the Bucks in the playoff looked eerily familiar to Evan Turner. An overpaid guy that you can't leave out for long stretched because his an absolute liability on both ends.

The Celtics would waive him if there was another amnesty clause.

Yeah, how dare I break things down on a per minute basis. Math doesn't exist.

He was recovering from a damn broken leg!!! He produced at a high level in fewer minutes than he'd normally get because he was recovering from a broken leg...He'll play more next season and should be better.

He had one bad playoff series and now he's trash? He's decent season of recovery is irrelevant because of those 5 games in a toxic culture? Do y'all expect to be able to trade expirings and a pick for a perfect star? Whoever we get is likely to have question marks and be a risk. That's why we'd be able to get them in the first place. And we need to take a risk that provides sizeable reward to reach contender status.

I'd try and work out a opt-in and trade with Boston and Al Horford, if possible.
