If he wanted to go, yes. However, base-year compensation trade rules would also have to be considered.

Also, sign and trades need to be agreed on and done simultaneous with the signing. We can't sign him and then a day or so later trade him.

It has the same repercussions, so no, still highly improbable.

So, a young player who doesn't play any defense who plays for a coach who is insanely intense and overplays his players is having trouble. Not surprising.

Kind of makes sense, except Thibs would have no use for a rookie, even the #1 pick.

Utah Gets: Al-Farouq Aminu, 30th Pick
Portland Gets: Thabo Sefelosha, 21st Pick, 34th Pick
Atlanta Gets: 24th Pick, Future POR 2nd

Utah will likely lose Favors and Aminu would be a solid replacement as a 3-and-D PF. They have a ton of wings and Sefelosha is coming off a severe injury so trading him isn't a loss. They only move down 9 picks.

    Atlanta consolidates 2 of their 4 picks (30 & 34) into 24 and a future 2nd.

Portland moves up 3 spots and adds an early 2nd, and can keep Sefelosha or decline his player option.

Portland moves 1 ahead of Chicago at 22, which allows them to draft Chandler Hutchison. Portland takes Alize Johnson with the 34th pick.

    Portland Gets: Tobias Harris
LA Clippers Get: Meyers Leonard, Caleb Swanigan, 2019 POR 1st, Right to Swap 2022 POR 1st, Future POR 2nds

Portland Gets: George Hill, 2019 NYK 2nd
Knicks Get: Evan Turner, 2021 POR 1st
    Cavaliers Get: Courtney Lee
Pacers Get: Ron Baker, Future 2nd

Cavaliers save $7M, get a starting caliber SG, can use free agency to sign a backup PG.
Knicks add only $5M in salary over the next two years and get a 1st
Portland sheds Turner, gets back an ideal 3rd guard

    Lillard / Hill / Baldwin
    McCollum / Hill /
    Harkless / Sefelosha / Hutchison
    Harris / Collins / Johnson
    Nurkic / Davis / Papagiannis

That team would be deadly. Our payroll would be $138M (which is decent given our improvement) and we'd have some cap flexibility next summer.

I don’t think Utah will lose Favors. They will sign him back on something like $35M / 3 years deal. They are also excellent at drafting and will fancy getting value at 21.

You traded the same thing twice again, ha ha. This time it's our 2019 pick.

If I was Minnesota I'd rather have KAT than Thibs, if Thibs is the issue get a new coach...

Problem is, if you get rid of Thibs Butler is likely to leave.

Where are all the people that were crying about not bringing in Thibs? That dude sucks and doesn’t belong in today’s NBA. Players don’t respond to that abrasive style unless it’s Pop, and the thing with Pop is he actually tries to connect with his players in between berating them. Also won’t forget to mention Tommy boys brilliant strategy of playing his starters 45 minutes a night either. Fuck that guy.

I think even Pops shtick is wearing thin. He’s reportedly had issues with Simmons, Aldridge, and Kawhi in a two year span. Players are changing as is coaching styles and I don’t think grown men accept being coached like they’re still in college anymore.

I know this looks like a joke, but bear with me:

The Celtics have Tatum and Brown at the swing positions and they massively overpaid Hayward. Meanwhile, Brad Stevens is the only coach anywhere who can make Evan Turner into a valuable player. And if he can do that with Turner, why not Meyers? He's got Baynes shooting threes now, so surely he can use a center who's actually good at threes? If not, substitute Harkless maybe.
