To get Middleton we'd would probably have to do something like Aminu and Layman for either Snell or Dellavedova plus give them picks. Not sure if that is enough but it does get them out of a bad contract.

Which was one of the best and most logical trade ideas I've ever seen.

ORL Gets: #8, #24, Kyle Korver, Al-Farouq Aminu

Draft Jaren Jackson, Michael Porter, or Mo B amba at 5

Trade TPE for Tyreke Evans (S&T) or Courtney Lee

    Lillard /// Hill
    Lee/Evans /// Hill
    Harkless /// Turner
    Collins /// Davis
    Nurkic /// Bamba/Jackson

I'd trade CJ and our first rounder to Milwaukee for Middleton and Snell. They get another pick and a much more dynamic player. We get deeper on the perimeter with a couple of three and D guys.

Snell is terrible, he has negative value the way he has been playing for the last months and Middleton is not really that much better than CJ for us to add a pick and take on Snell’s deal. Actually I think CJ might have more value considering Middleton only has 1 year of his contract left (he won’t be taking that player option for sure).

Ew... You realize Middleton was only average defensively last year, right? CJ is still better than him. Snell is garbage too and he's considered a bad contract. So you want to downgrade CJ, take on a bad contract, and trade a 1st in the process?

If we trade McCollum and Aminu for a draft pick, I imagine Lillard will quickly be having another conversation with paul allen.

I had mentioned similar sentiments when proposals of trading away players and basically doing a full rebuild and expecting Lillard to want to stick around.

A top 5 pick... and we get George Hill.

    That's a retool not a rebuild.

I saw the trade. None of that refutes what I'm saying. Fans love the idea of draft picks and rookies. A 27 year old all star, all nba player isn't going to be excited about the 5th pick in the draft. Especially at the expense of CJ. And if that move is made, if he already had a conversation about the direction of our team with Paul, then he's likely out.

This is a top heavy draft. A 5th overall pick is extremely valuable, and were not winning shit in the next couple years. And I don't care if he's excited, we get a player in Hill, who, if he plays the same as he did in Utah, is just about as good as CJ. Trade for someone like Lee to be pur starting two and were better than we were before with a top pick in hand as well. We save money and can make more follow up moves.

We don't need to pander to Dame, as i doubt Dame is "excited" at the moment anyways... I also doubt his loyalty hinges upon CJ being on the team.

So we need to handcuff ourselves to mediocrity by keeping CJ to keep Dame? You see how that makes no sense, right?

I'm not a fan of giving up picks but what about this:

    Turner, Leonard, and #24

    For

    Jeremy Lin and DeMarre Carroll

Saves us $1.8 million next season and both players come off the books a year before Leonard and Turner do. Nets are still desperate for picks.

    Dame, CJ, Harkless, Aminu, Nurk

    Lin, Baldwin, Carroll, Collins, Davis

    PapaG, Layman, Swanigan

Doesn't really change our starting lineup situation but I really like that 2nd unit. We could still use the TPE's and/or the tax-MLE to fill out the last couple spots and add some more talent.

I'd try to flip Lin and Layman to CLE for Hill.

This would also result with the same lineup:
    CLE Gets: Turner, 2019 1st
    POR Gets: Hill

    BKN Gets: Leonard, Swanigan
    POR Gets: Carroll

I don't know why any of the 3 teams would do that trade. Portland takes on even more salary next year instead of reducing salary (Hill makes a disgusting $19 million next year and either gets $18 million the year after that or we still have to pay him $1 million for being waived) and would have to give up a future pick that could potentially be decent. The Nets don't get a pick for taking on salary which is more than likely what they are looking for. The Cavs have to take on an extra year of salary for Turner when their salary situation is already a mess.

I wonder if Milwaukee would be interested in something like this:

POR Gets: Middleton, Dellavedova, Snell (TPE)
MIL Gets: Aminu, #24, (maybe the right to swap 2020 1sts?)
3rd Team w/ Cap Space (DAL?) Gets: Meyers Leonard, Caleb Swanigan, Future 2nds

Milwaukee saves ~$26M next year, gets a good defender at help at the PF position that creates switchability w/Giannis.. Could go with a starting unit of Bledsoe, Brogdon, Giannis, Aminu, and a C (Henson?) And use the extra pick, free agency and the draft to fill out the bench.

After free agency, if LeBron leaves we could then try to flip Turner and a 2019 1st for Hill. Sign Ilyasova to an MLE

    Lillard / Hill / Delly
    McCollum / Hill / Baldwin
    Middleton / Harkless / Snell
    Collins / Ilyasova
    Nurkic / Davis

    I like that.

Hill and Turner have the same contract lengths and pretty much the same salary. So if LBJ leaves, they'd do it to get a draft pick for Hill IMO.

Brooklyn has no big man depth and a ton of wing depth. If they value Swanigan, they do it. They seem like a team that would experiment with Meyers too (they don't have the best shooting). Add in some 2nds and its possible.

They don't have the same contract. Hill's contract in 2019-2020 is non-guaranteed so they could cut him after next season and only owe him $1 million instead of the $18.6 million they'd have to pay Turner.

No one is taking Leonard for Swanigan and 2nd round picks. That's just not enough value. Maybe next summer when Leonard becomes an expiring contract.

Didn't realize it was non-guaranteed, which sucks because Hill is exactly what we need in a 3rd guard.

I think you underrate what some team may see in Meyers. "Take on" Swanigan? He's a fringe 1st-round pick from a deep draft. He doesn't have negative value, and likely has slight positive value. I think a team would take on Leonard for Swanigan and a couple 2nds. Some team would value experimenting with Meyers.
